Many, many moons ago I asked the guys at Maule what they did for this problem and they allowed as how they simply spaced the rotors out with 1/4" thick washers and increased the length of the wheel through-bolts accordingly. Later on, a friend bought me a set of 1/4" thick spacers with six bolt holes that he found in a shop at Merril Field in Anchorage, AK. The spacers were obviously suited to three or six bolt wheels.

Here's a Cleveland memo on adding spacers when using 8.00-6 tires on Maules. I have 40-97A wheel assemblies but all the individual parts appear to be identical to the 40-97D assemblies.
