Re: rear seatbelt install
There were directions to install. We found them. I have 4 hard points for tie downs: these were not used for the seatbelt installation. Just the seat center bolt and a sidewall attachment plate installed.

Re: rear seatbelt install
lownslow and n2582d ; you have what I have been trying to describe. I am not near my AME and was just trying get clear in my own mind if the other hard point was good for the belt. I am not yet familiar with the Cessna original placement. I hope to clarify when I talk to my AME.

Re: rear seatbelt install
The nut plate I am thinking of using is not for the seat but 1/4 of the way in from the side and parallel with the seat nut plate.

rear seatbelt install
I am putting an Innovation Airframe single rear seat in my c170. Directly behind the seat and about 14 inches back is a nut plate. I believe it is for a 3/16 bolt. Is this strong enough for attaching the belt (both sides)? I have not been able to get clear information on this.

Re: Baggage Door Installation
My 170B has skis. They are hyd wheel skis. My mech used factory diagrams to install cable tie locations. They are in the same location you show. BUT I have seen a 172 with cable ties much further back. There was no mention of ski brand on Cessna diagram. Poor snow here this year but good landing on ...

Re: back on skis
I have never landed on bare ice with either wheels or skis. Never really had the need or inclination. I have been in a twin otter on skis when it landed on terribly rolling ice (two foot highs and lows) He just greased it in, we jumped in and were off in a few hundred feet. Arctic ocean, minus 30. T...

back on skis
Last winter was a wipe out for skis in western Saskatchewan; no snow only frozen lakes. This winter we just had a foot of snow. Took an hour to re-install skis and gone flying. Just excellent conditions. Made 5 landings. Then landed near my yard, raised skis and taxied on road and into hanger. Plugg...

Re: Seat replacements for my rear bench in a C170-B?
I found over the years that only one rear seat was used, so I found a trashed rear seat and cut it in half. The material you cut off is used in the fabrication and it bolts in using the existing bolt locations. The bolt that would normally go to the side that was cut off is placed into an existing ...

Re: Scott Tailwheel question
I just changed springs on my 3200/ on my 170B. The old main spring was wider than other springs and fit the 3200 perfectly. New spring stack is narrower and took a shim. I think springs were from different suppliers as older main spring was only a few years old.

skis on
After a year long ordeal my skis are on. Federal hydraulic wheel skis on my 180 hp 170. The set was not complete firstly ; then mechanic did not have time to install. But yesterday I made my first landings on these skis. Skis pumped up and down and tracked straight. Good landings on a frozen lake wi...

what did I fry
No mechanic available for a two weeks so will ask here. I left the master on and tried to boost(I know, I know-always check). I got cables reversed and buggered battery. Then I put a new one in and it worked fine for starting but shows no charge on gauge. Is it something in alternator or what? It is...

Re: Tires for awb 2500 skis
Just got back from the shop. I am starting the installation of AWB2500s. My 8:50 by 6 will not work properly . Can not make them clear. Pretty much to late for this year but will be looking for smaller tire/rims for next winter. While I am at it I am taking out useless ADFs, ashtrays, hat racks and ...

red indication on tach
I have an avcon 180 convert with constant speed prop. Got it a few months back. The tach has a 2700 red line but with the right light I noticed red from about 2100 to 2350 rpm. The previous owner is not available. Is this a recycled tach or should I avoid settings using these rpms. The lycoming card...

remove pedals and control
:?: I would like to know if anyone has removed the right side controls? Both pedals and wheel. WHY? less weight, less potential for accidental input. My Beaver had a throw over control yoke with no right rudder pedals and I have seen 180/185s with yoke removed and pedals stowed or early models cover...
