Re: Odyssey Battery Life

I believe most, if not all, Odyssey batteries are AGM. Be sure your charger or maintainer is designed for AGM - some flooded cell chargers can damage AGM cells. This is the correct answer. A generator is probably the worst charger for these type of batteries. YMMV Doug Why would that be, Doug? Why ...

Re: Gascolator: Glass or Metal

The glass requires a little more care in maintaining but it is not more susceptible to failure. It is unwarranted. The only problem is if you damage the glass parts replacement is getting scarce. No need to worry about failure during operation. D

Re: B model tip up or tip down

Doug, I assume you are not talking about the slight change to the angle of incidence one can make by adjusting the eccentrics at the rear spar attach fittings. Three accidents with “substantial” damage might explain some of the lack of symmetry. Probably quite typical for our 65 year old planes. Ho...

B model tip up or tip down

Guys. Someone made an observation of my plane. The left outboard wing it tilted up and the right wing is tilted down. In checking with another B model it was the same. Can anybody explain accurately why this is?

Re: Scott Tailwheel question

Todd any pictures? There are different spring stack sizes. The 3200 has a shim to adapt to the smaller stack. The important thing is that the casting be secured in tension with the AN-7 bolt. I have seen some installations of narrow spring and casting with the larger shim in place. I hope that sheds...

Re: Tailwheel Assembly

I've wondered that myself. The picture on the web site shows that the -3 tailwheel has a two-bolt bracket. The page says it's a direct replacement for a Scott 3200, but with two bolt holes, I don't see how that's true or why you'd want it. There is actually 2 models of Scott 3200 tailwheels. the on...

No, it's cool. I love insurance hikes. Please, everyone go nuts. Was that "No" a B model shouldn't be slipped at less than 40° flaps if It's cool someplace? You like hikes with insurance? Everyone should be a nut? I'm not following you Ryan. Ryans attempt at Sarcasm. Basically flaps 40 an...

Re: Can a B Model be slipped at a less than 40 degree?

I get the idea of why I can't slip a B model at 40 degree of flaps but as I understand it this rule only applies to the 40 degree setting...correct? Can I not slip a B model at 0-30 degree of flaps? You might ask why would you when you have the 40 degree setting. Just because I can (maybe) and it w...

Re: 0-300 engine issues

Hi, just to clarify.... the number 1 cylinder had the valve issue. I told the mechanic to also replace number 6 because it also had the same time on it as 1. When he removed 6 he looked through and saw the lifter damaged. The lifter had nothing to do with the exhaust valve on number 1. The two issu...
