Re: Franklin 220, motor mount STC and support

I maintain a 170 with the 220 Franklin. Big problem is doing the 500 hour inspection on the magnetos. They are about a half inch or 12mm from the firewall. The only way to remove them is to remove the engine from the firewall. I have flown and maintained many Franklins and it is a nice smooth runnin...

Aerocet 2200 Floats for the 170

I have been getting several calls from individuals with 170's that want to put them on Aerocet 2200 floats. I hold the STC but do not manufacture the floats or parts. Aerocet manufactures the parts. Presently I have a total of 3 individuals that want to pay the price Aerocet is asking to put their a...

Re: Skis

Shawn, I have not flown skis since my Nome days. I have been trying to decide whether to go for straight skis or wheel skis, the retractable kind. I think I would prefer straight and the Aero ski you sent a link to has an extra hole for the throw over type axle wheel. I think weight wise that makes ...

Re: O-300 Bent Cranks

TCM cranks are also fully nitrated which does not usually give them a lot of flexibility and if bent they usually crack and eventually fail. Lycoming uses copper to flash the areas during the nitriding process which does allow them to bend and be rebent or did until a recent bulletin did away with t...

Re: Aerocet 2200 faqs??

Ron, I have you down as a for sure for the deck up kit. Micah and I just cannot justify having 30,000.00 of parts for three additional kits sitting on our shelves with no one truly stepping up to the plate to commit. We are both just owner operator shops. If I had not spread the cost over almost fou...

Re: best palce to buy Cleveland wheels and brakes (kit 199-

I recall an AD from the 70's for McCauley wheels and a recurring inspection until some corrective action was done. I don't think it was for 170 series aircraft but if you do have that part number wheel assembly it would bear looking into. I also think there was a bulletin or AD for cracks for them. ...

Aerocet 2200 faqs??

I am not posting this as a form of advertising. I just keep getting emails asking the same questions. I really doubt anyone will ever buy as set of 2200 Aerocets for their 170. The reason? Even though performance is far superior to Edo 2000's, they have large hatches that can store 100 pounds each, ...

Re: Tail wheel mounting bracket and spring retainer

Hey John, thanks for the information. I got one from Air Repair. They have 4, now 3 left in stock. Another member also contacted me and thinks he knnows of 3. The parts person at Air Repair told me he has sold almost 50 in the last two years. Bruce, so if the clamp is missing or the parts are cracke...

Tail wheel mounting bracket and spring retainer

I am looking for a tail wheel mounting bracket part number 0512154-1 I also already acquired a tail wheel spring retainer channel part number 0510000-31. Cessna has two left. I found the retainer did not have the bent up portion on the aft end during an annual of a 170 I had never seen. After removi...
