Perhaps the Family Car of the Air applied to the '48 model or maybe up through the '50 model and became the Businessliner with the B model? Have to check on a couple of old framed ads in my hangar to see what they show.

Bruce, do you still have those GREEN torque sockets you were making? Mine still works well. Doesn't get much wear so it should last forever.

Shape looking plane! Know you will enjoy it. When a shop does this extensive work to a vintage Cessna I am always curious why they didn't go ahead and change out that T-Bar control column so there wouldn't be any issues with instruments or a center stack set up.

My Sept 20 renewal with Travers (US Specialty) was $1,035. $45k hull, $1m liab with $100k per person, $5k med per person, no ded in motion or in flight. Steve Grimsley did an excellent article yrs ago on replacing the old cork float on these manual gauges. I followed his instructions almost to the letter when one of mine sunk and had to be replaced. It has continued work well ever since. That has been at least 20 yrs ago.

While I haven't had the opportunity, or need for repairs, to visit Del's shop, I have seen a lot of his work on others planes and its always top notch. The thing that nailed his skills for me was his rebuild of Miles Bowen's '55 170. It was truly the rise of the Phoenix

Don't feel bad about ATC thinking you are a 172. So many of them have no idea what a 170 is. When they ask what type Cessna I am, I just say 172 and most times they then refer to me as a Skyhawk. The Skyhawk name didn't get on 172"s until well after mine was mfg'd and if I tell them its a 172TD...
