Rapco Belt Driven Pump
Hi ... I just finished talking to Mark at Rapco. The 212CW-6 pumps as we know, are no longer in production and hard to find. The pumps can be overhauled if they are in such a condition that they can be overhauled. Apparently the pumps were made from different materials over their production life and...

Hi ... first, I will check out Tempest and what they charge. Second, a couple of comments about SE IFR. I have done it in the past flying charter (C-206) and did a lot of night flying while instructing on the T-34C. We used to debate the merits of a night jump or riding the bird down into a previous...

Airborne 212CW-6 vacuum pump
Hi ... first, I appreciate the help I have been getting regarding our '54B back in the air! Further question: I have an STCd Airborne vacuum pump installation. I may have to overhaul/replace the pump. Any ideas on who has a replacement or can overhaul or provide overhaul parts? The pump was fine the...

Narco AT-50/AT-50A
Hi ... any information on the difference between a Narco AT-50 and AT-50A? A quick scan of the internet did not help. I am more curious than anything else. I am pulling my AT-50 out and replacing it (I think) with an Appareo ESGi. I have the interior out of the airplane ('54B) and the instrument pan...

Control Yoke refurbishment
Any ideas on who to contact regarding refurbishment of the original yokes I have in my airplane? Does powder coating provide an acceptable finish? TNX Regards, Lee (N1967C)

Re: Windshield ...
Hi ... I was looking at the windshield this afternoon and decide that I might be making more out of this project than necessary. The crack is really small ... I suspect at some point a fuel nozzle was mishandled and hit the windshield. I am going to hold off replacing the windshield at least until t...

Hi ... winter is coming ... I am going to replace the windshield in our 170B. Can a windshield be in stalled when the temperature drops below 50deg? Or, better to wait until Spring? I live outside of Memphis and the temperature at night is now falling into the high 30s and low 40s with daytime tempe...

Re: Windshield
Actually, my wings are on ... to look at a picture of the bird, you would think I just had the cowling off and the interior out. It is a little more than that as I pulled the instrument panel out and removed the instruments from the panel as I want to fabricate a new panel. I could probably let the ...

Re: Windshield
Jim ... I preferred the LP installation for the reason mentioned regarding screws in the other installation. Can screws and nuts or Rivnuts be used in lieu of rivets on the LP windshield? If rivets have to be used, could you describe the bucking bars you had made up? I appreciate your comments regar...

Re: Windshield
I am leaning towards the LP windshield. As for originality, I have so many STCs incorporated that originality went out the "window" a long time ago. If Cessna has not had any problems with the windshield coming out and is similar to the LP modification, then the LP should be OK. I would ap...

Re: Owner (supervised) Annual/Overhaul
The two main issues thus far have been with the mufflers internal baffles (thus the need to replace) and missing inter-cylinder baffle and a spring I need to fabricate. There were tabs I had to cut out and rivet to the outer inter-cylinder baffles as well. I missed those items when I was looking at ...
