170 Photo Gallery
Just to let this group know that http://www.c170.com is back up again. Thanks to Steve Johnson for passing the site on. With encouragement from Kelly (a.k.a. Funseventy) to revive the Cessna 170 Photo Page we now have the "Gallery" operational again. Please give us feedback on what more we...

Oshkosh
I have parked about in the same spot the last few years at Oshkosh and the row right in front of me was all Luscombe's. Because I dont camp with the airplane I like to be up closer to the "Red Barn" and the show airplanes. Was about row 48 or 52 something like that. Would be fun to get a g...

story
Fun story Vic! Sounds like you had a good trip and what a way to do it.... in a VINTAGE Cessna 170! On my trips to Oshkosh there are a few places where I talk to a tower and when they ask what type instead of just saying Cessna... I always add Cessna One Seven Zero. Thanks for the fun story.

Best looking
Well.. I have just about the same list...
Airmaster, 195, 170, 140
Here is a picture I took a couple months back of an Airmaster taxiing out behind my 170. Two of the best models of Cessna's in ONE picture!

Nope not George's!
Well... it was pointed out to me that this is Rolla Henry's 170. This is the picture I saw. Very nice machine and very nice picture taking. Looks like a twin to George's! http://www.historicaircraftrestorationmuseum.org/images/c170.jpg http://www.historicaircraftrestorationmuseum.org/images/c170.jpg

Genin
That is about where mine kicks in (1500/1600). So taxing out for take-off with all my radios and lights on is not good. When I get to the runup area I useally turn it all on and run the rpm up to that range.

price of speed
"Speed is inversely proportional fun" I thought is was when the more noise we make the more fun we are having!? Seeing a Cub or a 170 to a flyby is fun... but it is way more fun to see a Corsair flyby. Corsair = more noise! Also... a friend of mine always said... "It boils down to tw...

cost nothing
I just noticed that the subject of this topic is "what price is speed?" Speed is expensive. Pretty is expensive. I'm hoping to find an airplane someday that's slow enough & ugly enough that it costs nothing to fly it! (some might say that my current mount comes pretty close to qualify...

What price is speed?
OK... now I have been reading about these "slow" 170's and "fast" 170's that SOME people keep joking about. Where was the 170 "Speed Showdown" that determined who was slow and who was fast!? 8) Always get a big kick out of seeing pilots brag about their go fast machines...

GPS
Eric, My old GPS 90 HAD to have the antenna up on the glare shield and so when I located this GPSIII here I was concerned. So far it has worked great! Hope to make a weekend trip here soon to see how I like this unit on a trip. For my local flying it helps me navigate the DFW airspace with that hand...

So excited to show these off... figured this post could go in either the Pilot Lounge or the Hangar... Just finished installing the tail pull handle! Bought it last year and kept thinking it would be a big deal. The hardest part was getting my mechanic to commit to helping! Me being the skinny one I...
