Re: fuel tank leak

Can you provide a picture? Mke and Model of airplane? Applying vacuum to the tank may create more problems than solve.

Re: Slooooooow 170b

Your post brought a smile to my face. I thought my 170 was the slowest around. It gets around 108 mph true…and the plane is even painted RED! … It’s good that it’s RED!…. I’d hate to think of how slow it might be in Green! More seriously, one of the things which perturbed me was the amoun...

Re: Slooooooow 170b

Individual FAA Inspectors are “human”…just like owners, pilots, and workmen. They can make and verbalize personal observations in conversations which may or may not be the “official” viewpoint. “More onerous” was My phrase in boiling-down the bottom line of the conversation. The inspectors comments ...

Re: Slooooooow 170b

Wing rigging was my initial thought, but I can’t find anything in the logs showing it was changed. … I’m fairly certain there are Many who can confirm that a Lack of any Record in the “logs”….. does not equate to a “Lack of Alteration or mechanical work performed”. This can be obvious when an STC i...

Responding to your earlier post…. The “original” was an 8-bolt prop and crankshaft.

Re: Slooooooow 170b

Surfaces condition and rigging can be issues. Antennas, brake-lines, prop condition, engine condition …. would add/subtract minor differences as well.

Windy.com is a really interesting website with multiple-layers of info. On short-range flight planning I use AirNav.com and check AWOS at nearby and enroute fields…. BUT… don’t forget to check NOTAMS https://www.notams.faa.gov/dinsQueryWeb/ ForeFlight and Fly-Q are favorite pre-flight briefing sourc...

Re: RPM at Run-Up and take-off Roll

I think “static” RPM should be checked in “static” conditions at sea-level, standard atmosphere. This would be in a No Wind condition…which is what Cessna is attempting in that procedure. Tachometers in these airplanes are typically mechanical and prone to IN-accuracies and their mounted positions c...

Re: C170B Fuel Selector Valve

Replaced mine with McFarlane last year. Tremendous pain the rear to remove and reinstall. Then I hit my stride and trying one more time installed it in about 90 seconds. Wish I could remember what I did! 8O You must have yourself on “fast-forward” to do that in 90-secs…. 90-mins is more like it…. I...

Re: Fuel Flow transducer installation

Aircraft Spruce sells very good quality gaskets which work good and last a long time and are very inexpensive: They are labelled for gas cap gaskets…but they are correct for original gascolators and oil filler cap gaskets also. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/fuelFlange3.php?clickkey=...
