Re: Negotiating a sale - setting a value
I've learned that quality of work is completely separate from certificates held by the person performing the work. I agree with that 100%. Another correlation I've noticed is the quality of work goes up when the person has to actually fly in the aircraft too :D Not according to the last couple of s...

I'm flying the '57 172 from Charlotte to Wilmington Friday to visit my daughter and Timmonsville, SC is right on the way. It's located at Huggins Field (58J, correct?) I really want to check this out, it seems like a very original airplane. Not as a project, obviously! Russ Farris Russ. Did you eve...

Re: A different type of landing
Sounds rather exciting. I think I'll leave those to you. I've had a few but nothing like you describe. You followed the Golden rule, Fly the plane no matter how bad it seems.

Re: N3585C flying again after oops
Glad to hear your in the air again and at a reasonable cost. *Thread Hijack Alert* The forum does have a search feature but it's not the easiest way to find info some times. I've spent entire evenings, trying to find an old post about some such thing that I know I read at one time. Glad I'm not the ...

Re: Dorsal Fin Attachment
Yes I have a 52 B and it is held by the 3 screws shown in the "B" parts manual. I used the parts manual to describe how the dorsal was put on and grabbed the "A" instead of the "B" manual. I was trying to point out that our vertical fin front was held by more than sheet...

Re: Plastic parts, Airbus V Boeing split- cleaning out my 17
Airbus uses two laminated straps that hold the vertical stab to the airframe. Your 170 stab is held in place by one sheet metal screw on each side and two brackets at the rear of the vertical Stab. I have never heard of a vertical stab departing the airframe of a100 series cessna, so wiggle away. I...

Re: Seat and locking part dimension questions.
Those little strap and pin stops also eat up the washers and roller wheels on the rear seat legs. My seats won't reach the aft stops so I don't have that worry :D . I have to take the back seat out to remove the front seats  . The first couple of years I had the plane I would put the rear seat...

Re: Destroyed cylinders
So why did they offer to replace them with serviceable cylinders if they were junk? Still sounds fishy. Maybe they never had someone ask for the old junk back. They should have waited for confirmation of disposition before they destroyed them though (lesson learned?). They decided to replace the ba...

Re: Destroyed cylinders
When I sent a cylinder for overhaul it was sent back in 2 boxes one had all the serviceable parts and the other had the unserviceable parts. Never heard of a shop destroying the unserviceable parts. Sounds mighty fishy to me. More recently (May 2010) when I had my engine overhauled, at the shop clo...
