Re: Assist straps

I have a single strap with ends in black that could use new leather. They are very hard to find. $100 plus shipping if you want it.

Re: My '55 170B Project

The main reason I sold the RV6 and went back to a C170 was that I could not fit a guitar in the RV6!! With this set up, I can fit not only the guitar, but the full PA and members of my band!! :D

Re: My '55 170B Project

Now with the plane back at my home airport hanger only 3 miles from home/office; I have been able to spend a considerable amount of time on my project. This weekend, we got the wings installed. Since the last post the following have been completed: All wiring, fluid, instrument, control connections ...

Re: My '55 170B Project

It has been a while since I updated you with the project and a lot has been accomplished. Top Flight Avionics completed and tested all the avionics and inside wiring. I got the firewall insulated and now made the move to get the plane back to my own hanger. This week we made and secured connections ...

Re: Back Seat Attachment Question

I found my seats much more comfortable and lighter when I removed all the steel spring suspension and replaced it with control surface fabric, then had Aircraft Sport Seating in AK make me modern multi layer pads and covers to slip over the frames. John.

Re: Federal awb 2500 ski installation

There is an AC that provides approved methods for installations of skis...can not recall the number. My '48 170 had cables attach to a bracket that was clamped to the very top part of the gear leg. The rigging I used was custom made and fit perfectly by that ski mfr in Brooten MN (Aero Skis??). Make...

Re: Avcon Throttle part number

If mine, go with a new 48" throttle cable assy (best price is from Vans Aircraft and they have too much to lose by selling s orr y stuff). I stand by my belief that our planes were born with TCDS under CAR3 were the terms 'PMA' did not exist. Part 23 grandfathered CAR3 aircraft to be able to re...

Re: Seat and locking part dimension questions.

I am still in the process of rebuilding my '55 C170B and would like to get the Cessna Safety Stop equipment to be installed later this spring when we put the floors and rails in. Is it possible to get the parts kit from Cessna and have my A&P install it?

Re: My '55 170B Project

Over the top of the panel, there is a 'U' shaped overhang piece that has a strip of green LED strip lites on a dimmer. This will go on after the we are done removing the panel so often to work on things behind it. I love flying in the night and end up turning the panel lites down to about nothing to...

Re: My '55 170B Project

The real final panel has been cut, painted and had instruments installed. Antennas are done. The sub-panels are now also done. Today we finish the cabling for the intercom. Next is the cabling for the other things like the lights, pitot heat and stall warning and then back to the other shop to have ...

Re: My '55 170B Project

You should be able to zoom in on the panel pic to read the paper place holders on the lower sub panel. The round circles on the blue tape will be 10 circuit breakers for elect loads. The panel below the radios is: Master, Avionics Master, Nav Lts, Strobe Lts, Lndg Lites, Pitot Heat. Dimmer is mounte...

Re: My '55 170B Project

It has been a while, but today was exciting!! The main panel in my 170 project has been cut. Today we test fit all the instruments and planned the routing of wires and hoses from the rear of each. The glove box gets a door and the black GPS holder gets an angle mount and trim to cover the rest of th...

Re: Rock guard for C170 H-Stab

I saw that and read through it and followed up on all the part numbers and sources listed...old info. Need current source of the boots and confirmation if the boots referred to as S1938-3-68.00 will fit the curved H-Stab of our C170's. There is a current part number 1232040-5 that is a boot for 180/...

Rock guard for C170 H-Stab

I see many 180 and 185 with a black rubber guard on the leading edge of the H-stab...but those A/C do not have the curved leading edge that the 170 has. Can someone point me to a source of black rubber type abrasion material that can be adhered to the leading edge of the C170 H-Stab? Thank you, John
