Re: Weighing my 170B Couple Questions

The numbers that are in the first post make no sense? Engine oil is 7.5 lbs. / gallon Which is a total of 15 lbs. oil at 8 quarts Installed at -20 (minus 20 inches) X -15 lbs. (Minus 15 lbs.) = 300 Where: Minus 20 inches equals the distance (Arm) forward of the fire wall. Minus 15 lbs. equals the we...

TCM IO-360 posts

I started the TCM IO-360 installation in my 170A in June of 2014. My first post about it in the International Cessna 170 Association forums was on my birthday in June of that year. It is funny that I had not noted that when I did. What is interesting to me is that the views of those forum posts has ...

Re: Dick Lemmon - gone West

My favorite quip he had was on a discussion about 170 landing gear that is: " There are no Landing Gear Police". He called me several times just to talk about my TCM IO- 360 installation. I always stopped to talk with him when he called. He told me the same stories several times. My only r...

Re: Continental IO-360 Install

I finished my TCM IO-360 conversion in Dec 2013, I had found a 182 propeller from my friend and owner of AC propeller for only $4500 0 time since major overhaul. I found an 900 hour factory engine at a salvage yard for $5,500. I went through the engine my self. There were some surprise gotchas. Like...

Re: Sad news

Jim, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my wife Jan 25, last year. It's not easy, at all. Time will help. I'm TAD to Bremerton for the next 2 weeks, if you'd like to get together to talk with someone outside of your circle, let me know. This weekend would work, just PM your email or number...

Re: Sad news

Jim, so sad to hear your bad news. My brother went through the same thing with his wife 3 years ago and as it happens so fast, like you, my brother was in shock for sometime. I was on the flight line in Everett this last week accepting a 787. I asked around for you and now I understand why you were...

Friends, family and our church family are being supportive. Right now I cannot even get my mind around wanting or desiring to fly or work. I complet...

Re: Garmin G5 STC'd for Certified Aircraft

Since I Installed the TCM IO-360 and after about 25 hours my Attitude gyro tumbled. Where the gyro used to run on vacuum from the venturi. The Engine STC allows the installation of a vacuum pump which I installed. The gyro apparently did not like the change as it soon rolled over and died. After che...
