Re: 170B D windows.
Thanks Bruce. As you were typing that I found an old post about something else that referenced the first appearance of the D windows for the 1955 Model year….but built in 1954.

170B D windows.
What year(s) did the 170B have the D shaped rear windows? 56 only or 55 also? I’m talking model year, not year of manufacture.
Rich.

Re: Very informal study of 170 sales.
It’s a tough decision. I had the entire ad with pictures written on Barnstomers and couldn’t pull the trigger. I guess my thought process is, the market is soft and will be for a while. I’ve already spent this years money on it. Annual is done, insurance is paid. I own the hangar, so that money is s...

Very informal study of 170 sales.
When I was searching for a 170B in late 2019 the ones that looked like they were worth pursuing were few and when they came up on Barnstormers they didn’t last long. Plus many were in the western part of the country and I’m on the east coast. Finally I placed a want ad on there and got lucky as an e...

My 52 has the same. I was told it was done as a sound deadening attempt. I guess it could help with oil canning too.

Re: Cruise prop T/0 vs climb prop ?
I have a 76/54 on my 170B. I’m at sea level and I won’t go out of less than 2500 feet of grass with two people and full tanks. ROC is 500-800 rpm depending on the day ONCE YOU GET AIRBORNE. Acceleration is anemic. But it does a true 120 mph. I’d like to find a 76/51. As far as altitude goes I’ve onl...

Re: A Bit of History
The questions I have are about the early years of 83C. I know where its been for the last forty years. Actually I have a pretty good idea of where it has been since the landing incident in Alexandria, La June 1970 by a young man with 3 hours in type. The only time I remember it being on the ground ...

Re: Panel refurbishment - back to classic
Your panel looks nice as is but I understand the desire for that original look. I looked up N1111 and got no joy then I realized I left off a one. Indeed N11111 was registered to Zack Mosley. Interesting registration number. Must have had some special meaning to Zack.

I second the suggestion to get the 170B IPC. I think you can find most of it online. Attached are some pictures of my 52 Panel.

Re: Tempest/F&M filter adapter AD
Last year we complied with the SB by installing two copper washers. Now that this is an AD, do I need to do anything else? According to my IA who just completed my annual you should comply with all the requirements of the AD (service bulletin) except replacing the gaskets if you have the copper gas...
