Re: How airplanes are REALLY made
Yeah, it kind of reminded me of two mad hornets attacking each other in flight. No translation is necessary, I can already imagine what they were saying.

Re: How airplanes are REALLY made
This also happened with two B-17's during wwII over Hamberg Germany. NO pictures of course but a very interesting story. A few of the crew members that bailed out didn't make it but most did and a pilot that flew both planes to the ground while on fire did survive the crash with practically no injury.

Re: Loss of Oil pressure
Yes there was a similar case where a shop towel or rag of some sort was found blocking the inlet screen. Since this problem occured just after maintenance was performed, I would assume the problem is related to that. I also agree that it is not likely the pump as they are so reliable. I would guess ...

Re: How airplanes are REALLY made
Believe it or not that has happened in flight more than once and the planes had to land stuck together like that. Not with a cessna though, I don't remember the exact A/c type. Which would you rather be, top or bottom?

Re: Correct gap for sparkplugs
A plug with too little resistence where? between the center electrode and ground or through the resister of the center electrode. There is a difference and several different potential types of failure. That is why I think the tempest plug resistence check is only to sell more plugs, it is not a comp...

Re: Correct gap for sparkplugs
The (approved) TCM manual says the spark plug gap should be 0.015 - 0.021. I don't see the purpose of testing your plugs that are working normal unless you are doing an annual or 100 hr insp. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Maybe if you were to carry red tie down rope Dick would be happy, somehow I doubt it though.

Re: Tailwheel flat
Just stating the obvious Dick. The red tires aren't fast, You have to be quick with them on your plane not to get caught RED handed with bootleg parts on your plane.

Re: Tailwheel flat
Red ink is not allowed in the logbook by the FAA as it renders the aircraft unairworthy.

Re: Tailwheel flat
Red is what they use to show that a part is unserviceable or condemned. Green means serviceable, right?

Re: Tailwheel flat
(Why not make it look legal?) Better still, why don't you actually make it legal. Save your worn, but serviceable, tailwheel tire and use it as your emergency spare. Costs even less than a walmart or northern tool tire because it costs nothing to do at your next tire change unless you are like blueld...

Re: Built-in Intercom
Paddy, are you using a known good headset? if so consider this, the PTT switch you found and plugged into the mic jack may also be bad. Unless you troubleshoot with known good components, you will likely end up spinning your wheels. A known good ptt switch plugged in to your mic jack would tell you ...

Re: Built-in Intercom
your description is very hard to follow. I am assuming you are saying that your PTT switch is hard wired to the intercom utilizing the same pins as your MIC jack input. I don't know what you are describing as a "joint". If you mean a splice to extend the 3 wires from your PTT so they will ...
