Re: New member here!

In my experience with them, the VG's aren't about slower speeds but better handling at such slow speeds. The aileron control in slow flight is night and day. But yes - it's not high on the priority list, certainly not above the engine monitor I want to add. 8)

Re: Squeaking leafsprings

Interesting, I'll have that looked at. It's interesting to me that it only occurs periodically after a flight and shutdown, and no other times.

Re: Bartone Exhaust

Does anyone have an audio file / video of an engine starting up/running with this exhaust installed?

Re: Cessna 170B fun decals

I just saw this. My turn to revive! Are there any of these available, and if so, where can I get one?

Re: New member here!

UPDATE For those that don't know already, earlier this year I bought N1977C from Rob, another TIC member. Richard graciously ferried it out from New Orleans area to its new home here at KSNA. I'm a 180 hr PPL with minimal tw time (and all of that in light tw such as decathlons/cubs) so I had some le...

Squeaking leafsprings

Like a good ramp neighbor, after I land, I pull straight down my tie-down row and shut down, then turn and hand push into my tiedown spot. I've noticed recently that there is an occasional squeak coming the leafsprings connecting to the tailwheel (Scott 3200). However, the squeak is only there at th...

Re: New 170A owner

Nice! Congrats! I too am a new 170 owner (bought from another TIC member earlier this year). It's been so fun and a learning experience as well.

Re: Preflight Ailerons Inspections

In addition to the above, I actually slide my finger along the pushrod feeling for any irregularity. One of my CFIs at the flight school I used to go to told me this as she found a pretty significant crack in the pushrod of a 10 year old 172S this way. 8O

Re: New member here!

We also have a north south weekend get together every late Sept in Columbia CA. It’s generally a small gathering organized by member Daune Shockey. He’s another great contact, having hosted 2 annual conventions, he’s in tune with the association. Thanks! I'd love to join that. Hoping to make the Fa...

Re: New member here!

All great info here, thanks! I actually grew up flying in Canada and did most of my training there. It's the border crossing aspect that I've never experienced. Doesn't sound terrible. And since my family is still there I go there a couple times a year...I'm very familiar with the customs agents on ...

Re: New member here!

Born and raised up in northern Canada Whitehorse? Welcome lots of great 170 owners in Ca. I just noticed you're up in Vancouver area. I grew up there from about 3rd grade through high school and most of my family is there. I first trained / solo'ed etc with Coastal Pacific out of YXX. My uncle keep...
