Re: Fuel Selector Etched Plate
All--
My S/N is 18403 and the fuel selector is on the floor. Sounds like whatever I do, it'll will be self-made. Nonetheless, seeing examples of what others have done will allow me to do the best job possible. Also, having access to the WORD doc would be great. Thx.

Re: Fuel Selector Etched Plate
I guess the association hasn't processed my membership yet, so I'll try and find a picture in the members only area in the next few days. I'll let you all know what I find. Thx.

Re: Fuel Selector Etched Plate
All-- Thanks for the replies. As of earlier today, I am a paid member so will try and find something (a picture) in the "members only" section. The Aircraft Spruce plate won't work because the stock '48 C170 has one 12.5 gallon tank in the left wing and two 12.5 gallon tanks in the right w...

Fuel Selector Etched Plate
All --
Does anyone: (a) have a photo of the fuel selector etched plate (i.e., left, right, both, off) for '48 C-170; and/or (b) where one can be found?
Mine appears to be rather poorly homemade and looks a bit too cheesy for my blood.
Thanks.

Re: Nose cowling
Bruce & George,
Can you help me find the STC for the vacuum pump that includes the C-172 nose bowl? Thx.

Re: Nose cowling

Thanks for the comments and analysis. The fact it's a C-180 nose bowl changes things a bit since my A&P/IA has been laboring under the impression it's an early C-172 nose bowl. I'll keep y'all posted as this matter evolves.

Re: Nose cowling
Bruce, In follow-up to my last post, I have a distant picture of the nose bowl but don't think I can post it because I'm not yet a paid member of the association. I can say, though, that the nose bowl on this airplane does not resemble the one depicted in the lower drawing attached to your post. Ins...

Re: Nose cowling
Bruce, I'll try and find a picture. In the meantime, I can tell you that whoever did the mod took an early-model C-172 nose bowl and made a cut-out above the prop to mimic the original nose bowl. The resulting nose bowl is "completed" on the top by the upper cowl reaching down to the prop ...

Re: Nose cowling
All- Turns out the only modification was to the nose bowl (i.e., replacing the original '48 C-170 nose bowl with an early C-172 nose bowl). No other changes were made to the cowling, the air box, the baffling or anything else that we could see. Given these new facts, do any of you have thoughts abou...

Thanks for the replies. I'm meeting with my A&P/IA this afternoon to discuss. Hopefully, I'll be a new owner and paid member of the Association by this time next week.

Re: Nose cowling
All--
I'm going through a pre-buy on a '48 C170 and discovered an early C172 nose bowl. There doesn't appear to be any paperwork on this mod and I'm wondering if anyone here can tell me the basis for getting this approved. Thx.
