Re: Nose Bowl Replacement
Interesting thing about this project, mine is a 48, so this is a “new” inlet. Nothing available for a 48 -52 170 and 170A. When I get the project done I will try to write up an article for the quarterly if anyone is interested..cheers

Re: Aft fuselage inspection panel
On an older post, George Horn lists some recommended mods. One was to add an aft fuselage inspection hole for the aft rudder cable area. Has anyone done this that can post a picture? I was looking at my airplane and I couldn’t establish a good spot. Thanks Poncho, Are you looking to add an inspecti...

Re: Aft fuselage inspection panel
OK thanks George. As others have mentioned the aft area near the rudder cables is tight. I was hoping someone had installed an inspection hole. Judging from the group response it appears no one has....I will go back to the drawing board and have detailed look at whether there is even room. Thanks

Re: Aft fuselage inspection panel
I think George implies it’s done in accordance with the Cessna structural manual standards but I’d really like to see one first.

Re: Lower Cowl Air Scoop Fit
Thanks. That mounts on the inside of the lower cowl. It looks like I can use it on the earlier models by trimming of the lower end.

Lower Cowl Air Scoop Fit
I've come to a bit of an empass on my nose bowl replacement. I need a new air filter cowl lower air scoop, they are no longer available for the 170 and 170A. Knots 2U have the 170B model fairings. They are sold by McFarlane and the like. https://www.mcfarlaneaviation.com/products/product/GF0552001-1...

Re: '48 Fuel Cap Overflowing/Uneven Fuel Burn
I never had an o ring on the top or bottom. I cleaned the existing parts and only installed a lower o ring where you see in the picture.

Re: Nose Bowl Replacement
The new nose bowl is an NOS part. Keep in mind it is only a shell. There are no doublers/frames/stiffeners. You need to build them, or salvage from the old nose bowl. My nose bowl was beyond repair or salvage so I had to get creative and manufactured the frames. Moving forward, today I completed str...
