If you can't stand the rust, the next time you clean your plugs, just mask off both ends (including the threads), and squirt them with some high temp paint.

[quote="gahorn"]I only fly B 170's so I can't add anything to this thread. Sorry. George, I know you jest, but don't think the B-model can't get you into trouble as quickly as the others. I once slipped mine with full flaps at 300 feet AGL (I didn't say it was a smart move.) The view...

The picture of '98C on my 17" screen is about half the size of a postcard. I wanted to make it smaller (more about the size of Bruce F's picture), but I don't have a link to a smaller version. Until someone can figure out what is going on, I'll remove the picture. It's not worthwhile if it is b...

WOW! I guess bad news travels fast. I just received the message about 80 octane being out of production from our local AOPA airport advocate, and logged on here to pass the word, and found that "jc" beat me to it. My airplane has been running fine on un-doctored 100LL for about 9 years (th...

Re: Propeller Data

Shucks, I thought maybe I had found a reason why ole pokey was so pokey! Maybe I will have to borrow that "certain" 170's prop, or someone else's, long enough to see if it makes any difference in speed? Hey, POKEY! I always suspected your prop might be the reason Ron and I had to throttle...

It't too bad '65C wasn't finished a few weeks ago. Looks like she would have been an award winner in Tehachapi! Hope to see you around some the western fly-ins; Copperstate maybe?

Re: METAL IN SCREEN

What the AI in FAI found was about a teaspoon of aluminum in the screen. Number 5 was also down to 58 lbs. He found valve and or seat problems in nubmer 5. From what I know aluminum comes from pistons or piston pin caps. My question is this: How about he fly it around FAI for an hour and pull the s...

Tehachapi Convention

Thanks for all the good words on the convention. I don't think either Karen or I ever worked so hard on any one project... or one so rewarding! It was so great to see everyone just sit back and have a good time. I can't say how many of the locals have mentioned to me what a nice, fun-loving group th...

Flying to Tehachapi

I thought that the Pilot Lounge would be a good place to post this article about flying to Tehachapi this summer, as this forum seems to get more traffic than the Events/Fly-In's . Maybe some of you with a lot of high (for a 170) altitude operating experience will put in your $0.02 worth. If nothiin...
