Re: Custom center stack panel
Yeah, easier to wire and comb the wires. Easier to plumb. Excellent opportunity to clean below the pedals. Chance to check the motor mount attach points for corrosion. Chance to clean firewall, close unneeded past firewall holes with soft rivets, prime and paint firewall. Just a lot of good things h...

Re: Custom center stack panel
Just a thought, I always take the firewall off. It is easy to do and improves access considerably for a whole host of work to follow. Easy to take off and re-rivet. Hope I am not intruding. Mike

Re: Custom center stack panel
I did the panel. I drew it all up and Del-Air did it and the lower panel for all the switches. I am happy to talk with you if you would like.

Re: Custom center stack panel
Chris is a very very good guy. The work will be perfect. I shipped mine and then it was returned. I am happy to get under the panel and give you measurements of my Y yoke. 170A and 170B will more than likely be the same, but I can't assure absolutely as I don't really know.

Re: Custom center stack panel
I have put a single panel in my 53. In addition, a second lower strip for all switches and breakers. I drew it up and Del-Air punched it out. Riveting it in was a no brainer. Del-Air will also make the T control into a Y to allow for the avionics. Del-Air located in Porterville, CA. Ask for Chris. H...

Re: Corrosion of the Rear Spar Carry Through
I am restoring a 48, so the oldest and subject to more corrosion, and did not have to fabricate/order any new parts. Drilling just the top off the rivet and then removing the remainder of the rivet with good metalworking practices will save all your skins. You should be able to remove any corrosion ...

Re: Corrosion of the Rear Spar Carry Through
I am in my second restoration. I believe there is really one solution. I have taken the top skin off the cabin and then got at the corrosion in both spars. I then epoxy primed and coated the primer with Dinol in both spars. This is a lot of work, but the model is old and if you are worried, I recomm...

Doyn Conversion
I am looking for information regarding the Doyn conversion. I know the company is defunct, however does anyone have the conversion and related paperwork? Specifically, I'm looking to see if a vaccum system is part of the conversion. Conversely, if someone knows of an STC or has a field approval for ...
