Re: 0-300 NEW STYLE Accessory Case

The tach drive turning in reverse will be corrected 90° gear box adapter is installed. It is a PN on page 18 (and also for the IO-360 case). Oil pressure now matches that from the report from the overhauler. Probably had something to do with the fact the overhauler didn't have a filter adapter and a...

Re: 0-300 NEW STYLE Accessory Case

And update. The engine owner is very confident his overhauler built this engine to meet EASA standards as they were contracted to do. He doesn't seem to have any paperwork that explains how a IO-360 ES sump would be approved on an 0-300. I've highly suggested he get that documentation from his overh...

Re: 0-300 NEW STYLE Accessory Case

Gary, thank you thank you for the excellent photos of the sump with those sticks through the ports of the sump and then extending them through the sump. I don't have a sump on hand and have been trying to imagine it from the illustrations, an impossible task. And I can even emagine how the oil gets ...

Re: 0-300 NEW STYLE Accessory Case

Looks like the pressure relief valve is moved to the other side of the acc case, could that mean the flow through the engine is reversed? Reversed only within the accy-case…not the engine. (actually… the NS accy case is more straight-forward …it is the OS accy case which reversed the oil flow from ...

Re: 0-300 NEW STYLE Accessory Case

I would think there’s a bunch of old cases available too, heck I’ve got two gathering sawdust in the garage. And I have two as well Jim, but neither of us are in Croatia. Actually I have one 5 hole and one 3 hole, the last a variant found on C-125 and early C-145 engines that must be used wi...

Re: 0-300 NEW STYLE Accessory Case

So after working with this person over a weeks time and having worked through what accessory case he had, as you can see I wanted to discuss the fact that there is a new style accessory case in the 0-300 IPC, and it works different with a reversed oil pump, but I'm not sure how. Then my first email ...

0-300 NEW STYLE Accessory Case

New style accessory case? What am I talking about. Well as much time as I've spent looking through the C-145/0-300 IPC, I never noticed this before. There on page 16 is the good old accessory case we all know but what's this on page 18? Must be a mistaken duplicate of page 16 but wait, there it is i...

Appreciate you sharing with us. Can't imagine a trip such as yours or owning a plane of the same caliber to do it in.

Is silly a Canadian measure Jim? Do you know if it is a skosh more or maybe less than "a wee little bit"? We need to know.

Re: Stall Warning Horn

I suppose we'd have to dig up the reg in CAR3 that required an audible stall warning and see what sound requirements, if any are there. If any a test would have to be conducted by the installer to show the piezo horn met the requirements. Otherwise I's say the Mallory horn meets the requirement of s...

Re: Fuel Flow transducer installation

Gary, can't say what goes wrong in the Cirrus transducer, nor could I say what went wrong on the one in the 182. On the 182, in the bad transducer, the vane moved with seemingly no friction, could be something in the creation of the signal sent. I was told to replace it so not much trouble shooting ...

Re: Stall Warning Horn

I have some experience with Mallory SonAlerts and they may fool an IA during inpsection whle it’s sitting and being tested in the hangar….but it will not likely be loud enough to be reliably heard in-flight except perhaps in a power-off stall and no headsets. George, I wonder if the Mallory SonAler...

I'd thought I'd posted this just after Jon created the post. Must have not hit the submit button. Jon had PM'd me on this subject prior to and at my suggestion, creating the post. I'm not sure if Jon had talked to George first but think not. I was not aware of the damage to Jons plane. I'm including...

Re: Fuel Flow transducer installation

Gary, we change fuel flow transducers on a regular bases on the Cirrus we work on. I've changed it twice on the same 182. I'd put it someplace you didn't have to remove the floor like in your photo or work through a hole. A replacement of the transducer there could bump the job of removing/installin...

Re: Stall Warning Horn

Just came across this Youtube video showing how to get a Lionel horn to work. The 170 stall warning horn is exactly the same though slightly smaller. I haven't found a Lionel horn that would fit in a stall warning inclosure.
