Strobe light repair or parts

I have a Strobe light on top of fuselage that , I think , was installed in the 70's sometime . It was working fine for the last 30 years , but now it doesn't flash . I took it out today to see if I could repair it . My question to any of you is : Have you ever seen or heard of " Sky-Strobe by D...

Re: Franklin Question

I'm not claiming to be an expert ( we all know there are plenty of those ) , but in my opinion a 300 rpm drop is normal for a 220 hp Franklin . I have two of them and that is the way they are . As I remember , the Franklin manual says check the mag drop at 1200 and 2200 only , 250 rpm drop allowable...

Re: Traveling to Duluth

Miles, It's that " not landin' til da budget is met " part that will make the flight interesting . Knowin' how cheap people are (myself included ) , I'm bettin' the Ship gets dead-sticked in after it runs out of fuel . I like Adventures . Andrew :D

Re: How to find and A/P

W , I was going to keep to myself , but when you wrote part about becoming " cinical " , I can relate to that . I use to love everything about Aviation , but then 9-11 came and it keeps getting worse ( or maybe the fact I'm now over 50 and I keep getting worse ). Anyhow , I can offer to do...

East Gull Lake (9Y2 )

During the summer , you can fly into East Gull Lake ( 9Y2 ) near Brainerd , Minn . It is a nice grass strip . Walk over to Maddens Resort and eat at the Pizzia / Sub place . Or if your on floats , you can taxi right up to it . Maddens also has a fine restuarant , but it might turn into a $200 hambur...

Re: you tube

My 170B started out in 1952 with 145 HP Cont like most of them , then in 1975 it was converted to 220 HP Franklin by an STC at SEAPLANES , INC . Washington . It has been a SuperPlane ever since . My Son likes the paint also , almost Military look . I keep saying " someday I need to give it a re...

hi Larry , 800 ft sounds kinda long to me , but I guess being over a mile above sea level takes its tole . Here in Minn at 1200 ft MSL on a winter day of 15 degrees F , wind at my nose at about 10 kts , 1/2 fuel , my 12 yr old son & I , about 40 ft is all I need . Andrew

apex ak , my franklin 350 has been very good to me , never had a problem . Parts can still be easily found. whereas , I feel the best application for a Continental 360 is in a Seneca , so when one blows up the other hopefully can get you back ( personal experience ). I'm not trying to talk you into ...

Hi Larry, your franklin 170 weighs about the same as mine . I never thought of mine as a " heavy" plane , it has all the " get-up-and-go " I could ever ask for . Have you had yours long ? I've had mine about 7 years , the franklin mod was done back in 1975. Andrew
