Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202

I too would like to echo thanks to all the dedicated folks who together made our Annual Convention, and the 75th Anniversary celebration at OSH that followed, both rousing successes! If my count is correct, we are welcoming 25 new or returning (3) members into our Association. Also, during OSH, we r...

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202

A bit late in posting this, but here's a pano of the parking area Sunday night. The best number we have so far is an approximate peak of 119 C170s in the reserved parking area. By Wednesday night, several spots had opened up, and they were parking other model aircraft among us.

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202

Dan told me that this was a contingency for if we land on the 9/27 side of the airport - the VAC sign will get us headed in the correct direction. As we get closer, the marshallers will be more familiar with the special parking for our 170s and the special sign will then be effective. I was left wit...

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202

I may have cut/pasted an incorrect eMail address. Heads up for everyone: Dave Finamore has mailed out the Window signs and parking instructions to everyone on his sign-up list. If you haven't received your copy, it could mean he doesn't have you on his list, and/or the wrong eMail address was regist...

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202

Jim has a point, and the last time I flew in, it was with Transponder off as well. But, for reasons unknown, the 2023 NOTAM calls for the transponders to remain on. Was the same in 2022 as well. Here's the quote: Approaching Transition Starting Point Ensure lights are on within 50 miles of OSH. Leav...

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202

I'll take a shot at the ADS-B question. OSH is normally just a class D airport, so it should be "legal" to operate there without ADS-B during the rest of the year. I just did a text search of the 2023 AirVenture NOTAM for the letters 'ADS' and they do not appear in the entire document. So,...

Re: Tire Pressure & Tube Wear

I installed the tires with talc sprinkled on the tube. My issue may be that I wasn't "liberal" enough with the talc (possibly because I'm not liberal in other areas of thought - but that's a topic for another time  ). George, how would you quantify how much talc you use? I had thought...

Tire Pressure & Tube Wear

Let's talk tire pressure & tube wear. I'd like to know what MLG tire pressure people are running in 600-6, 6-ply tires? First, I acknowledge the topic of tire pressure has been discussed before; this 2016 thread as an example: https://forum.cessna170.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=12948&...

This was a great time, on a day with beautiful, albeit HOT weather. Thanks to all who joined us, and a special thanks to Ken Peck for setting it up.

Re: $100 Hamburger SOUTH CENTRAL (TX,OK,AR,LA)

Old thread, but a good one. Sadly Kezer lost the restaurant next door some years back. I'll add a great Barbecue place near Davis, Oklahoma. https://www.smokinjoesribranch.com/ Their barbecue is not cheap, but it is delicious! They have some unusual hours in that they are closed on Sundays and Wedne...

Re: Left the master on...

I will insert this idea here and we can see where it goes. I've had a Horizon P-1000 tach installed for years. Being an electronic tach, its tach time was accurate, and only ran with the engine - like a Hobbs. Anyway, twice it simply forgot its tach time, and had to be sent in to be reset. The final...

I'd say you've covered the "learned how," and will now face the "learn how much time" part. Your sample looks great!
