Re: Diagram for control cables
The 100 Series Service Manual may be of some help. You are looking for diagrams or details for the '56 172 in the aileron and flap department. Rudder, prior to '55 will be different. Of course don't accidentally install a nose wheel :D ! Aww, I like my nose wheel. I also like tailwheels too when I ...

Re: Oil quick drain issue
Why do the instructions on some quick drain units say to never leave a hose attached to the drain? I have had a hose attached to mine every since I installed it 20+ yrs ago and have not had any issues. I know of others who do this as well. That may be because some would install it on an aircraft wi...

Re: Venturi System not producing enough vacuum

Make sure the small hole inside the venturi is clear. I had checked all hoses and connections and they were good. The ru...

Re: Rear seat attach
An old trick is to find a screw or bolt an 1/8" longer and sharpen it like a golf pencil, so that it self aligns in the hole. Easier said than done cause you also need a good grip length. Then run a die to smooth out the threads of the part you sharpened. I ran the die on the bolt first then s...

Re: Carpet or Vinyl for a floor covering
I've got a '63 172 and ordered the carpet from SCS and installed it about 5 years ago. I realize you're looking at the vinyl floor covering but the carpet I got fit perfectly and I'm well satisfied with it.

Reference the resetting a circuit breaker. 20 some years ago my airline's procedure when a circuit breaker popped was to reset it once. At cruise altitude the FO's windshield heat circuit breaker popped. We reset it and about 5 minutes later the cockpit filled with smoke and we put on the O2 masks a...
