I'll have to check the brand but I've got a heat pad on the front bottom of the oil tank on my 140's O-200 and there's something on each cylinder. Forget exactly what it looks like. I have a Kenon cowl cover. If I plug it in for four hours the entire engine is very warm to the touch, the oil on the ...

I've found that the blue painters masking tape works pretty good on my 140 and it's less likely to stick too tight. Haven't had any problems with it coming off early either.

p.s. it helps that my airplane is blue in the front.

The way I see it, if the tanker trucks, Fed-Ex, UPS, USPS, corporate business's, ect.., can conduct their business on all the available roadways, why should General Aviation be penalized and pay for airspace and affiliates just to bring the cost down for the corporations that make money using them?...

I've been flying with a Garmin 195 for several years. The greenish backlight screen is pretty hard to see at night. I just got a new Lowrance Avmap 1000 and flew with it over to Michigan and back on Sunday. It's pretty easy to use and the paper white backlight is really nice at night. The screen is ...

Black lights used for dye penetrant inspections by most inspection method standards must put out a minimum of 100 foot candles of illumination at 1 foot and the black light is 3650 angstroms. (Specific wavelength). Cheapo bulbs may not put out enough light and possibly not at the correct wavelength....

That fence looks a little short to keep the bears out. Or is the house on stilts?

The one thing they don't tell you though is the weather costs something like $50 a month, every month, every year. It might come down if competition can get into it. That's on top of the $300 a year GPS database updates. Total about $900 a year in subscription fees to keep the GPS up to date and hav...

Replace them with titanium legs from xpmods. Save 30 or 40 pounds of weight in the process and you won't have to worry about rust. It'll also prevent you from getting a sore spot on your rear from a thick wallet.

Re: Ragwing fabric attach

It's almost time to recover after the fuel tank patch. We are using the Stits process and the mechanic would like to use pop rivets instead of the clips. Has anyone else done this? Any concerns? Thanks, Chris Dip Davis is the guy with the STC for pop rivets for a 140, not sure if the STC covers the...

thammer: an educated person. (or at least an educated guesser!) Yep. It's the original water tower at San Antonio Randolph field, where Lindbergh attempted to report for Army flight training, still in use. (Lindbergh, having landed in his rather dilapidated JN-4, was told by the base commander to g...

I disassembled a 140 fin not too long ago that appeared to be a non-cessna replacement. Univair or Spruce perhaps, and the short front vertical spar had all the holes in it drilled 1/4" high. The net effect was that the forward end of the fin skin had to be trimmed up 1/4" so the spar coul...

Seems to me that Oregon Aero also sells the materials you'd need to do your own seats. Then you'd have approved materials.
