VIC,s That would be Great. I'm not sure if mine will make it home this weekend, but it will definitly will be back for Warwick. Are you doing your checkout entirely in a 170? I did a few hours in a Cub, which was built before I was born(and I'm old). It's a lot harder to handle than the 170. Just be...

George,

That would be great. It would be nice to meet the faces, that go along with the names.

As I mentioned to Vic, my 170b is due home from the Paint Shop, on the 24th. So, I can stop renting those nose draggers and get back to a real airplane.

Vic, I haven't been to Rhinebeck yet. Can We land there or do we have to behave like the common folk? While our 170's don't date back to WW 1, they are antiques. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my B comes home this coming weekend. It's tough being without our Baby, especially with these 80 degre...

Vic, That sounds like a great idea. But, it wasn't me that flew Choppers! Nancy Novias was my instructress, I was her second Private Pilot, Barhydt was her first. She is a Captain for Continental now. I saw Angela a few years ago, when my wife spoke at a 99's function at Teterboro. If I remember cor...

Joe, Prior to 9/11, going up the Hudson, you would be below the top Floor of the Trade Center, and it would be maybe 500' from the tip of your wing. You could fly the length of Manhattan (12NM), as long as you stay below 1100'. If you are lucky, you can catch a glimpse of an NY Yankees game in progr...

Teterboro

Vic, Was that out out Teterboro Flight Academy by any chance? That was where I learned to Fly. Just a hop, skip and a jump to the River! Maybe you knew Billy Barhydt, he took me on my first ride on the River, at night. Now even though Alexandria Field where my B is based is Sixty miles from the Huds...

George,

The next time you wind up in Secaucus, call me and I will take you through the Hudson River VFR corridor. A very memorable flight!

Dave,

Lets hope that I can do something like that. I think that Washington State is just beautiful. But, Arizona may be too hot, and to high for me.

Funny,

I have been out there 5 or 6 times, and it is always nice weather. It sure is tempting. I am IFR rated, but our B is not. So i must resign myself to VFR flying.

Cyclinders and Engines

Why is it that only with airplanes is the owner left holding the bag? Can you imagine GM say that they found a defect in there VorTec V6. Please bring it in and pay to have it repaired!!! On another note! I see that you live/fly in the Puget Sound area. I have done a few flights out there in rented ...

Winter front

Thanks Guy! both of these suggestions are great. Bruce, you definetly fly in the same air. Our Baby is due back from the paint shop on the 10th of April. I don't know if I will be to keen on taping or tie-wrapping my new paint job. I can't wait to see my new carbon-fiber wheel pants.

Winter Front

I haven't completely blocked the intakes, yet. But, without any thing in place I never see above 140 F for oil temperature, with 2/3 covered, I can get 170 F. Bear in mind that this is midwinter flying here. This year was especially cold, a lot of days +- 0.

Relacement

Jack, We had our's rebuilt by Mattituck, out on Long Island. It took two months and cost a great deal of $. We spent 3700 for a camshaft, to replace a worn one, had all new Millenium cyclinder put on. It is smooth and we picked up 100pm in climb. There is nothing a nice as a smooth running C145. Lou...

Winterfront

Bruce,

It may be a bit late in the season, but I make plugs out of card stock, glue aluminum wrap to them and mount them with tie wraps. It works, you just have to play with the size to the temperature right for your area.
