Re: Forward carry through spar

Pulled off one wing drilled out the cover over the forward carry through spar and surprisingly there's very little corrosion inside the spar.... Looks like it is strictly isolated to those four rivets possibly the front face of the carry through spar which I will find out after I get it out. I'm goi...

Forward carry through spar

Is anybody aware of a source for new front carry through spars? Yep.....During annual I found four popped rivet heads on the front right side. I imagine it is going to need a carry through spar judging from what I have read here.

Rubber grommets.com will send you a couple of samples if you call them and tell them you are building something that needs that size. They sent me 6 free samples, I used two and gave the rest away to members here.

Re: Wheel Covers/Hubcaps

I just last week was asked this and after looking in the Cleveland Technicians. Guide and the Cleveland Component Service Manual, I found no reference to repairing those holes. They do make Helicoils Kits for 10-32 and 8-32, or you could call 800-braking ( Cleveland Wheels Tech Line) They have been ...

Re: What have you done for your 170 today?

I installed my brand new Hartzell 80 inch prop and spinner/balancer assy, plus my new prop governor. I had sent mine into Warner Propellor awhile back for overhaul and a new hub to make the repetitive inspection go away. But my blades were to thin to overhaul so.............12000.00 later, all done....

Re: Angle of Attack indicator

I have one of the Alpha Systems AOA mechanical kit and am considering putting it on my 170A. I am wanting to evaluate it because we are considering putting them on our 802 Air tractors if it seems to be useful. Does anyone have one of them on a 170 or know of someone that does?

Re: Tail weight from your weight and balance

Also interesting, I weighed the airplane a year or so back with fuel in it, and the tail weight increased to 140 lbs with full fuel and leveled for weighing. If you added 222lb (37 gallons) of fuel at a +48 datum to my example above, the weight goes to 1447.6 on the mains, and 124.4. I prefer weigh...

Re: Tail weight from your weight and balance

Mains 645, 643 tail weight much like Roberts, 127 and just like me, she's a porker! And more important to the discussion she has a 0-360. So it is possible to get more weight towards the tail. I'm wondering if some the discrepancy we are seeing is caused by not having the door sill perfectly level....

Re: Tail weight from your weight and balance

Thanks everyone for the replies. Reweighed my plane again, different scales. No fuel on board, left main 646, right main 631, tail 112. Empty weight 1389. I have the 0-360, C.S. prop, battery on the firewall, lightweight starter, one comm and transponder, 180 gear, Scott 3200 tailwheel, 8:00X6 tires...

Tail weight from your weight and balance

Weighed my 170A and the tail weighed in at 144 lbs. Can't seem to find another airplane where the tail is this heavy. Kind of suspecting the scales, everything else was right. I was wondering if I could get some tail weights from some people to compare to? Thanks ahead of time.

I have a Gar Aero tailwheel fork and tire assy, I didn't see anything about that on their website but I will try calling when I get a moment. Thank you.
