Re: Security: Let's ask ourselves....
And then once the thief got the piss shocked out of them they would likely be mad enough to vandalize And, in my state, it would be grounds for the thief to sue me for something on the order of what I believe is called creating an "attractive nuisance". It's the same law that allows the n...

I reckon that means I'll have to actually shut the aircraft down when I go into the FBO rather than let it warm up awhile...and take your key with you when you go inside the FBO to pay for the fuel

Re: WD40 - It's Not Just For Breakfast Anymore...
Been using Dawn (R) for quite awhile in lieu of the waterless hand cleaners. It's highly effective when initially used without water. Squirt it on, scrub well, rinse off - all clean. Great stuff. It's also a good cleaning agent for de-skunking the pets. The Dawn folks won't tell us what's in it, but...

WD40 - It's Not Just For Breakfast Anymore...
I seem to recall that Mr. Horn had some interesting and unique uses for WD40. I have not verified the validity of the following information, but found it intriguing. Source and author unknown. _____________________________________ WD-40 Well, Who Knew! I had a neighbor who had bought a new pickup. I...

Re: aircraft covers recommendation?
Been using Kennon full nylon wing & tail covers for quite some time. One did sustain one small tear from the inboard corner of the left flap. I sewed it up and it's been fine since. The reason it tore and the only drawback to these, is that they aren't designed for 30 kt+ winds. Have to remove t...

Got my placard for the fuel selector thingy from Univair, I think. Genuine reproductions for the era. Comes with the little numbers so one can display the correct fuel amounts. Covered it with a thin plexiglas covering (1/8"?) so it stays easy-to-read. Used existing hardware to attach. Still lo...

Re: What’s in an N-Number?
Don't know any clever N-numbers, but Mr. Horn's boat names prompted me to recall an interesting one. The Captain was an enthusiastic oddity himself and plied the Great Lakes for salmon, among other things. He loved his charter fishing job and took parties out on his older Chris Craft (or was it an O...

Owosso, MI - (RNP): Crosswinds Cafe. Reputed to have exceptional breakfasts. They say RNP stands for "Real Nice People". One asphalt runway (10-28) and two turf runways (18-36 and 06-24).

Spins & Stuff
This is a cute video of a gathering of the 150/152 Club. The spins recorded were of interest to me and I thought others on this board might find them so. Musings: The blonde in the right seat is the instructor performing the spins... The father/daughter thing is one of those "awwww" moment...

Re: Tie Down Length?
Good thought on the climbing ropes, Abe. It didn't even occur to my mind, even though I've done a bit of rappelling (sp) and minor climbing. Climbing ropes have to be certified to be legal for climbing use. When they've reached their wear limits, they have to be disposed of in a particular procedure...

If one desires "real" vodka, one should obtain same from those who invented and perfected it. The French did not invent it nor did they perfect it. Grey Goose, made in France, is a pricey, bastardized, counterfiet that is now found on liquor store shelves. While it's a fine product, it jus...

Re: Fuel Tank Gaskets
I've bought mine from Clearview Airport (2W2) & Pilot Shop about every other year as a preventive measure. I don't recall the cost, but I know they weren't $55. I want to say they were half of that, at most; but I could be mistaken. The gaskets are a black rubber type material and not cork. Whil...

Re: Sitting at a Red Light
I believe it is "..and TO the republic, for which it stands.." if one is referring to this country's Pledge of Allegiance. Just trying to be helpful; not "throwing darts"..."and for the REPUBLIC for which it stands....."
