Re: IFR certified

I have a single 8" venturi mounted on the passenger side. I power an AI and DG and am always able to pull 6" of vacuum (where I've set the regulator) in cruise. The instruments stabilize during the takeoff roll.

Re: Ethanol (full strength) as a fuel is not a new idea.

Here's a recent article in the Washington Post that should be of some interest. It addresses the "Food for Fuel" issue.

Re: 1st time user

I also highly recommend "The 170 Book". It's available through the website Store or by calling Headquarters at 307-587-6397. I used to have a C-140 and now have a C170B. They are both great airplanes, but the 170 has much more utility with reasonable cost of ownership. Good luck with your ...

Forum Registration

I've been getting some questions lately about the website registration process. I'll attempt to clarify. There are two aspects of registration - registering for the Forums and registering as a member of The International Cessna 170 Association. You need to register for the Forums if you want to post...

Re: Welcome to the upgraded forums

Help! What's the detail on the new search criteria? I've reviewed the FAQs and can't quite figure it out. It doesn't seem to follow the boolean (sp?) logic. I'm thinking about upgrading my seat so I searched using the following words seat and upgrade and foam I would have expected to get results th...

I think it's called a pipe or, sometime, vertical bar. It's used to match one element or another. For example, to search for george or bruce you would use [george|bruce].

Re: Welcome to the upgraded forums

Dale, Would it be possible to configure the software to open links in a separate window as the old software did? .... I haven't looked into it very deeply yet, but I suspect this is not an option. It's considered to be very poor practice when designing websites these days. I think it has to do with...

Re: Welcome to the upgraded forums

I'd just like to figure out how to go from one topic, with a new post since my last sign on, to the next in a section (pilot lounge,Hangar, etc) without having to go back to the section (pilot lounge,Hangar, etc) and selecting the next topic that has a new post since last sign in. If I select "f...

My coolest cylinders (EGT) are always 1 and 6. #5 is usually the hottest and the first to peak when I'm leaning. That implies #5 is running leaner than the others. I've carefully inspected for an intake manifold leak, but can't find anything wrong. All cylinders run cooler when I pull on carb heat (...

Thanks Miles and Bruce!

I'll probably try to fabricate some covers similar to the picture, but I sure don't like the idea of blocking any of the cabin or carb heat inlets. If its cold enough to need less cooling air for the engine, then I need more heated air for the cabin!
