Re: Hanger Math
Grady, Check your tire pressure. If I recall correctly, I kept my tires at 24 psi (it has been two years sans 170, so I may be off). Regardless, when they got 4-5 psi low, it was not really noticeable to the eye, but it became very difficult to push the airplane, like the weight almost doubled. Refi...

Re: original headliner
I flew out of Daharan during the first Gulf War. During Desert Shield we ate well on the flight line with catered food contracted out and served by TCNs (third country nationals). The food was not too bad. Once Desert Storm kicked off, for security reasons, the TCNs were not allowed on the flight li...

Re: Thanksgiving 2012, Cub Style
Bruce, Operation Thanksgiving has been a fixture in Wichita Falls and Sheppard AFB for 31 years. Sheppard has many Tech Schools and over 5000 airmen going through training on any given day. Most are fresh out of Basic Training and like our group, just out of high school. This year over 250 families ...

Thanksgiving 2012, Cub Style
Hey guys, I hope you don't mind me sharing a Cub story with you. We have hosted airmen for several years and we used to take them flying in the 170 before we swapped it for the J-3. I hope you enjoy these young people as much as we did. Today June, the boys and I had the distinct privilege of hostin...

Need some insurance references, please
The gentleman we purchased our Cub from is having trouble getting an insurance quote due to his age (according to his agent). He is 85 and is flying a Legend Cub ELSA. Experience is not an issue. Can anyone of you who would be his "peers" recommend an underwriter that may be able to help h...

Dillon, nice work.
I was born and raised in Quincy. Soloed a J-3 the morning of my 16th birthday at Quincy and a 152 that afternoon in Hannibal. We will be to Quincy in June in our Cub. We will stop by and say hello. Where is this project located?

Re: Apple/Android?
I have Foreflight WX on my droid phone and foreflight on my IPAD. I have the IPAD mounted in the Cub and others have reported that at typical Cub altitudes (below 3K) they have been able to receive a 3G signal in flight allowing for real time wx while airborne without utilizing XM. I have not tried ...

Re: OT: New Resident
Bruce, it is a '46 with a C-85. It was restored in 2006 and has less than 200 hours on the restoration and overhaul. We bought her from a local gentleman who flew her while he finished his Legend Cub. The video is of my first flight coming home from Wichita Valley airport here in Wichita Falls. they...
