Thanks or170B for the quick come back. $2k sounds a lot better than the 10k for a whole new prop. I really mis-read the AD and thought I was in the clear! My prop was new in 81, so it sounds like it should be rebuilt as well. I will talk it over with my wrench guy (who is very good) and see what he ...

Does anyone have an idea what the ECI inspection will cost to inspect the hub? I have looked at my log books and my Avcon conversion and prop was done in 1981. Looks like at annual, (in June 07) I will be working on the Hartzel AD. Thankfully, I have 6 months to plot the best (and or cheapest) coars...

There is an 80" CS prop available with a couple of different STCs at least one of which covers your AVCON conversion. I've read that they are the cats meeow, as they pull harder off the line, and they also require/incorporate a harmonic balancer that reduces vibration and also eliminates the RP...

Test photo

http://www.myplaneonline.com/users/plane_images/4934.jpg Just trying to post a photo. I know this one is way too big but I will cut it down if this works. GARY N1909C[/img] That is neat. This photo was taken on our way home from OSK this year. We flew up to Door county to visit an old friend of min...

Put our name in for the mass arrival and group parking/camping. We flew in this year and got there at noon on Monday. We parked in row 128, way South of the sea plane base! It was great fun though. We would have loved to park and camp next to other 170s, and closer to town. We flew a total of 45 hou...

I would love to hear what you have to say on the Rosen mounting. Please post what you found on mounting the Rosen visors to the spar to share with the forum. Will save you and the forum a lot of PM's and time. Thanks, Gary 1954 170B

Well, they are in. I drilled 1/4 holes in the leading edge of the spar with a 90-degree drill chuck and installed the revnuts provided. It took me several hours and had to work in cramped position facing aft. I also took off the wing root trim to get the visors outboard as far as possible. Then had ...

170C, As your mounting experience is so fresh, I have several questions as to mounting the visors. I received from Rosen part number RCS 300-1. They have a large black anodized aluminum bracket with a 90-degree bend that should go around the forward spar. The holes in the bottom of the bracket are t...

We will be flying N1909C (54' 170B) to Oshkosh this year. We plan to arrive Monday 26 July. We will be camping with the plane, so I don't know if that makes a difference in our parking row. If you can get any information on parking in mass, please post it. We will be leaving home (Suffolk,Virginia) ...

Thank you forum for the information. I received my visors the other day and took them to the plane to dry mount them before drilling any holes. I have several questions as to mounting the visors. When you mounted yours, did you use the revnuts on the forward edge of the spar above the windscreen or ...

I just ordered the visors from Rosen at a $215 sale price. The sales person mentioned that they installed in the 170 with Rivnuts. I was thinking they installed with just the orriginal one screw. For those who have them, how are yours installed? Do you have the 3rd axis upgrade? I didn't order the 3...

I just spent 20 mins on the phone with Rosen and the sales lady didn't know about the sale on their web site. I talked her through the flyer I was reading on line while on the phone with her. She didn't know about it but said she would give me the price of $215.00. I am not a Cessna Association memb...

Thanks Dave. Looks like the Rosens are on sale until Aug to Cessna Association readers. I will order them this morning. The trip to Denver is to visit family before we head to Oshkosh on the return. Should be a great (but long) trip. We flew into the airshow 25 years ago. We drove last year as we ha...

Thank you Dale. I will order the Rosens Monday morning. I have a bunch of things I am going to order from Spruce and will add the visors to the list. My annual was on the not so cheap side of the scale, 8O but that is behind me for another year. Next year it should MUCH less. :) Looking forward to f...
