Re: Braking with full right rudder
That might work. I have a '48, but as far as I can tell the '48, A, and B all use PN 0433113 for the bell crank. At this point I think I've done all I can on my own and it's time to get an A&P on it. It needs at least one new rivet anyway. The bolt on the right stop was run in so far that it too...

Re: Braking with full right rudder
As usual, it was something simple that I overlooked. The last time I was at the hangar it was 14 degrees out, so I didn't spend too much time crawling around. Today was a balmy 34 and the torpedo heater worked. Anyway, it turns out that the issue is the right side rudder stop adjustment, or rather t...

Braking with full right rudder
I get a fair amount of brake actuation when I put the right rudder to the floor. I've read the previous threads on this subject and I'm trying to narrow down the possible causes so I'm not wasting my mechanic's time when he comes out. What I've determined so far: Pressing the right rudder pedal caus...

Re: Custom center stack panel
That's what I figured. I guess I was hoping that I would be able to jam a single radio way up at the top or something, but that doesn't make a lot of sense. Budget is always a consideration, so I'll probably end up building an 8 hole upper panel and keeping the radios at my knee.

Re: Custom center stack panel
Hey Kyle, Did you finish this project? I'm curious to see how it came out. I'm doing some long-range planning for my ADS-B upgrade and it is spiraling into a whole avionics upgrade, which is in turn making me consider building a new panel. I would love to put a nav/com and transponder in the center ...

Re: Garmin G5 STC'd for Certified Aircraft
Please note that the Sandia Quattro 340 is for a STANDBY use only. That requires that all of your primary instrument be retained. The following is directly off of Aircraft Spruces web site. The SAI 340 Quattro is Four-In-One standby instrument that gives you precision Airspeed, Attitude, Altitude a...

Re: Garmin G5 STC'd for Certified Aircraft
Answering my own question, I found this on the FlyHusky.com forums: The Sandia Quattro is a certified replacement for 4 primary functions. Altimeter, Airspeed, Attitude, Slip (and soon VSI) without a GPS antenna necessary. The Garmin G5 is an STC'd replacement for AI only and serialized to the airfr...

Re: Garmin G5 STC'd for Certified Aircraft
Spruce has a TSO authorization letter for the Quattro: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pdf/11-12817a.pdf Is the Quattro allowed to replace all four intruments? If so that would be a big benefit over the G5 which, if I understand correctly, requires retaining the existing airspeed indicator, al...

Oil canning in a '48 with metal covered wings
I'm looking at purchasing a '48 ragwing that was converted to metal covered wings in the 80s. I have a mechanic doing a pre-buy and he mentioned that he noticed oil canning on the bottom skins of the wings. He hasn't looked at it closely yet but doesn't think it is an airworthiness issue. My questio...
