Re: Prop Flange
Mine is missing some paint around the edges. I have to pull the prop anyway so I'll have a closer look. Since it's steel I would think you could just CLEAN, prime and paint.

53C corrosion control
I have the tail feathers off of 53C, stripping the old paint to clean up the corrosion under what was left of the paint. In the areas where the paint was lifting there was oxidation which is cleaning up pretty well with scotch bright pads. I am planning on washing the panels with soap and water and ...

Re: 2836C's Last Flight
So sorry to here about this. I saw on the news an airport with airplanes scattered about and wondered if there were any of our type and vintage. To me, it is quite different to see a late model brand XX destroyed than to see a 170 or aircraft of that era destroyed. To survive almost 70 years and the...

53C Wheel Pants
I looked in the IPC and it doesn't call out the rivnuts(?) for the screws to the back plates. Can somebody tell me what they are or a suitable replacement?
Thanks

Re: Blew a fuse
The McFarland prices are about $5 ea, except I notice the 35A version is only $7.50 for a pkg of 5. <sarcasm ON> I suggest you whiners man-up and buy the correct fuses from McFarland or recognize you might spend a fortune and convert to C.B./s. Since when did you find another genuine aircraft part ...

Re: Blew a fuse
The AGC fuses are a smaller diameter. They don't make good contact in the holder.DaveF wrote:https://www.flippers.com/pdfs/Buss_Fuse ... og_569.pdf

The world won't end if you use an AGC fuse instead of an AGS.

Re: Blew a fuse
Vern, In the desperate men do desperate things category, I have heard an old wives tale, not yet tested, that if you break the glass out of the ends of an AGS fuse...and insert an AGC fuse into the empty, metal end-pieces of the original AGS fuse, the new combination should fit into your old fuse A...

Blew a fuse
I need to replace a fuse. Mine are the AGS type. I am finding they aren't readily available. Short of installing CB's, what are you guys using? Is the AGS available somewhere?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: FAA records disk
I called the FAA this morning to request a new disk. Within about 30 minutes I received a call from the records section confirming that they would be sending a new disk out today.

FAA records disk
So I got 53C's records from the FAA today. Only problem, the disk is cracked! No signs of damage to the packaging but... Anybody ever call to get a replacement?
