Re: brake line repair
I'll make sure he knows about the mil spec H 5606. I just checked at the hangar (his own shop is down at Danielson Airport, a few miles away,) and he took the whole lower rubber hose and fittings so I assume he'll replace what he needs to connect to the new Al brake line. Thanks for your advice.

Re: brake line repair
Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, he's an AP but mostly works on the commercial planes over at Bradley. I'm the one that assumed the lines were steel. I'll forward this information to him. Thanks again.

brake line repair
Developed a brake fluid leak on my 170b Cleveland Brakes at the place where the starboard steel line is clipped to the strut. My mechanic, who is only marginally familiar with the 170, pulled the steel line down the strut but reports that he is having trouble finding "the fitting to the rubber ...

Leaving Woodstock, CT (64CT) pre-dawn patrol (WX permitting) and see you all at KFSO. Planning to fly home that evening. Happy landings, all.

Re: 2022 Cessna 170 Convention - Burlington, Vermont
Greetings, been a member since I bought the '52 170b in '99 - first convention. I'm planning to fly dawn patrol on Saturday from Woodstock, CT (64CT) - where do I go, Burlington or that nice little one further north? I was planning to stay the day and then fly home. Could I camp there, as at Oshkosh...

Annual in Southern New England
For 20 years, my '52 170b has been annualed at NE Air Services at KLZD, Danielson, CT. Ed Baranski and then Denis Lambert did good work but saved me money when they could. They've both retired, now and I have 'till the end of April to find a new shop. I'm in the "Quiet Corner," up in the N...

Re: strut step
I went ahead and ordered one of those lovely $80 ones from the fellow in Iowa. The one pictured by JRenwick looks like it could be made from a scrap of that tight-laminate Russian plywood. I weigh 170 Lbs and if it works, I'll post again, here, or take a picture of the failure. I'm happy to be focus...

Re: strut step
Thank you, Gentlemen, I knew there was wisdom and experience out there. I was about to fabricate a strap-clamp type for the strut, but I very much like the slip-on step for the gear leg - I won't have to produce an STC for a ramp check.
Happy landings.

strut step
Greetings, I fly my '52 170b all winter taking aerial photos (www.glsweetnam.com) - it's a great platform with the gear being more forward than a 172 (a Cardinal RG is perfect). But in Spring I think about putting on the wheel pants. A pair of the fiberglass version came with it when I bought it 12 ...

Angle of Attack indicator
At AOPA Hartford I spoke with the designer of Alpha Systems' angle of attack indicator [www.alphasystemsaoa.com]. It looks simple and well-made. They're available as a simplel mechanical version. As an aerial photographer I spend alot of time maneuvering at 1-2,000 feet and operating out of short ru...
