Re: Altimeter

I have in the past few years had every instrument rebuilt or replaced. I have always used Century Instrument in Oklahoma. The prices are fair, service is great and never any surprises. They also facilitated the repair of a wind up 8 day clock, even though they didn't actually do the work, they have ...

Push Rod Lengths

I am currently trying to finish my in hanger major overhaul on my C145-2. As I understand it, the hydraulic lifters can only facilitate a .030 to .110 valve lash. My clearances range from .148 to .172 with a fully deflated lifter. I have new ECI Titan cylinders installed with a new camshaft (origina...

Re: I give up... contol wheels

Here is what I have done. Instead of spending $250 per wheel for the original style rose coating. I believe the company was in Oklahoma (advertised in Trade a Plane). I simply cleaned them up removing all the old stuff and painted with epoxy. While I was at it, I drilled the center of the mount with...

Re: Firewall Forward Detailing

Thanks for the comments. I did like the light color idea, especially for the visual on problems. If I paint the firewall can it be alodined and coated with epoxy? I did clean it several years ago and kept it ragged with the" X". I've already ordered the slick mag kit with yellow wires as m...

Firewall Forward Detailing

I am currently going through a major engine overhaul. I am considering doing some detailing to the firewall (painting) and highlighting some of the components. Does anyone out there have something to share on experiences or methods that enhance the inner beauty of this classic 170?

C-145 oil lubrication

I am currently in the middle of my annual once again with bad cylinders. After many tests the engine was removed and disassembled. Upon visual inspection, I find the crank oil tube from the rear main journal to the crank throw of #1 does not line up with the rod cap spray port when the main bearing ...

So you think you want to camp with your airplane? My wife and I absolutely love it! We have been all over the midwest with our C-170B. Our favorite is Washington Island Fish Boil usually held on the 3rd Saturday of July. Incidentally, the the video you have witnessed was produced by my brother who i...
