Re: landing gear/gearbox information

C180 N92CP (Clark's Plane) was formarly (Harold's Plane). I had a P Punk kit that went with the plane when I sold it that I had never installed. I did not know about the heavier nuts at the time.

Re: What Did It Go On?

I found that from the serial number, my prop was manufactured in 1953 for use on the Continental 65 engine in whatever aircraft.

Re: What Did It Go On?

The engine MIGHT turn it, but, I believe my "Baby Duck" has mutch too much drag in the water to be an airboat. :P

What Did It Go On?

I found a old woondn propeller in the attic of a building that my Daddy purchased in the late 60's or early 70's. This is a wooden propeller with six hole hub, brass leading edges, brass tips, and fabric insers on each end of the prop. It is a Sensenich Model 72CK42, S8338. I am just curious what it...

I personally would fly with the current oil and change it after your long crosscountry.

Re: Maps

I call them charts and Carolyn calls them maps. When navigating by map/chart, I like to keep the map/chart oriented with north to the top whereas Carolyn prefers to rotate the map/chart with the direction you are headed to the top of the map/chart. Do most of you prefer north to the top or your dire...

Re: Flying and motorcycling combined

when we had our 170, I modified a mini-bike by cutting it in half and welding remounting flanges on it. We would remove and drain the fuel tank and place it in a sealed plastic bag for fume protection. I made a folding 1/4" plywood piece to protect the rear seat and the two mini-bike halves eas...

Re: 170A VS. 170B

I had a 170A. Personally, except for the effects of the larger flaps, I don't think there was any noticable difference in speed or performance. The A might have a slight advantage in speed, but very little.

I was planning on something like George's wood skid pictured to fly home with that many years ago, when I found the old Cub tail wheel to borrow. :D

Re: solid tail wheel

Many years ago, when making a night landing at a remote rural airport, the stub axle on my Maule tail wheel on my 170A broke off. 'We could not find the wheel in the dark so we spent the night. The next morning I found the wheel in the grass by the runway. While looking around the unattended airport...

Arkansas Dave,

We miss both Petit Jean and having a plane very much. Wish we could be there.
