Re: Chicago Pneumatic Rivet Squeezer
Having used these tools many times in my career. We never varied the air pressure. In the best equipped shops, they had different lengths of mandrels for the jaws. In the less equipped shops, we used washers under the anvils. Most of these tools actually allowed a little control through the regulati...

Re: door latches
I gotta get one of these, although I think I will buy the springs from Bruce. The service kit SK172-16C is available from Cessna current price $143.64, 1963 price $1.02 that's an increase of 13982.352941176467%.

Re: Greetings from Brazil
If your airplane is equipped with Cleveland Wheel and Brake STC for the 170 the kit number will be199-46 the disc for that kit is 164-02601, the minimum thickness for that brake disc is 0.205/5.207 = Inches/millimeters. Unless it has been modified by some other means which I have found to be true of...

Re: O360 engine models for STC
Any Lycoming engine model that ends with a "D" is the single drive dual magneto style accessory case. You cannot convert that engine to a dual magneto engine as it it has a different gear drive inside the accessory case. The "D" style Magnetos while a bad idea to begin with, have...

Re: Cessna C163001-0103 wheels vs Cleveland 40-97A
Cessna updated there later model parts catalogs such as Cessna 172Ps because even though Cleveland used to manufacture the McCauley line of wheels used on later Cessna model aircraft they stopped manufacturing the McCauley line years ago and basically forced aircraft owners to change to Cleveland wh...

Re: Cotter pin in oil pan
I agree with what SFaringer, Bruce and GHorn have outlined. I would examine the broken ends with a magnifying glass. Look for as George recommend to determine if it looks cut or fractured. I have doubts that both legs of a properly installed cotter key would fail on both legs. The short leg has the ...

Re: Hood River Antique Airplane Fly-In
Joe, It was great meeting you and all the other 170 owners during WAAAM (Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum) Fly-In at Hood River. I have flown into Hood River before, the first time on my Long Solo cross country working on my Power Rating back in 1997. I have never flown there before a...

Re: Flap Track Replacement
(This comment does not address the flap tracks them selves but rather the flaps). Any inspection of the flap installation of any Cessna flap tracks and rollers should include an inspection of the flaps themselves and the wear that can occur on the flaps per Cessna SEB95-3 R1. Single Engine Service B...

Re: Installing BAS Tail Pull Handles
I do two things when working down the tail cone for what ever reason. First I get the tail up in the air so that I am not laying in there with my head down hill. Second I have a plywood board about 3/8s thick about six feet long that lays down over the ribs and I am not laying on the rib flanges. It...

Re: fuel tank wear strips
This is kind of a smart-a$$ remark, but not completely. If you could find out what that black sound-deadening material is that Cessna sprayed on the skin inside the fuselage, I would use that. It is almost physically impossible to remove short of grinding and it is not soluble in ANY solvent normal...
