Re: Jo-Bolts

I should have been more specific. I'm looking for blind fasteners to attach a tail wheel bracket. My 170 had 4 rivets replace with jo-bolts and I was told they would be acceptable.

Jo-Bolts

Does anyone know of a good source for Jo-Bolts or a good substitution?

Richard, I can wait, thanks for the reply. I've gotten great insight from Gahorn. But I'm always open for more.
Thanks

Cabin Heat Conversion

OK guys, this will take a minute to get up to speed, but I need advise. I have a 48 170 with a O-300-B that just past TBO. I've been looking for a mid-time replacement and last week I found one off (I helped take it off) a 170 B which is about to get an upgrade to a 180 hp. I bought the engine Firew...

Need Aileron Help

I'm in dire need of a Left aileron for a '48 170. The one I have is damaged. It has damage to the leading edge. I need to find another to replace it or I need to have it rebuilt and I'm looking for options. I've read on the site that Williams in Indiana is good, but I'd rather not shell out that muc...

My mechanic and I checked the carb air heat box and everything is functioning correctly. The Carb Temp gauges are well worth looking into. During runup I noticed the normal drop in rpm when I applied carb heat. I always apply carb heat in downwind about 5 seconds before reducing rpm from full thrott...

Carb Ice

Okay guys, I need help here. I'm in Indiana, It's very cold, and I had what I think are carb ice problems today. Had some healthy cross winds today and thought I'd get some practice in. Temp was in the teens and wind was healthy. Basically just clear, very cold and windy. On my second landing I appl...

pancake muffler

I'm in dire need of a pancake muffler for the Left (pilot) side of my '48 170. The right side is still in good condition but I've developed blockage in the left. Maybe someone has up graded their system and the old one still has some life left? I don't need the muffs just the muffler. From what I've...

Parking

FYI, Replying to this post does not get you on the official list for Oshkosh parking. You need to contact John Nelson direct (e-mail, phone, snail-mail) in order to be on the list. John also indicated to me, via e-mail, that there won't be a group arrival due to varied times of arrival. Hope to see ...

Generator to Alternator Conversion

HELP!!! ... I have a '48 170 with a 13 amp generator installed on a O-300 B. My plan is to convert to a alternator. I got the 337's that others have done for this conversion from headquarters and went through them with my mechanic. We chose the one that best fit our intentions and submitted a new on...

John, I'm interested in the parking and the group arrival. I recently purchased my 1948 170, joined the TIC170A and have never been to Oshkosh. This ought to be a real rush.
