Re: Braking with full right rudder

Thanks everyone I was away from the computer for a while - we got it all sorted based on all your info and help. I did have a mechanic involved and unfortunately he didn't have much time working on 170s....I am also not great at this stuff but it seems like and is a pretty basic set up, especially a...

Re: Braking with full right rudder

So I adjusted the turnbuckle on the right rudder as much as we could - I believe we got 3 turns out of the right side and it did improve the pedal distance and made the braking actuation much less or non existent ( I did not get to taxi around and be certain no brake was being actuated since we had ...

Re: Braking with full right rudder

Well you were right Bruce! My rudders measured from the firewall to the top of the "T" are about 5 and 3/8 inches... There was a B model in the hangar and I measured it and it was just a hair over 6 inches. SO i put in the extra washers on the stop by the rudder (how I previously had it) a...

Re: Braking with full right rudder

Hi guys I have a similar brake actuating when I apply full right rudder - almost ground looped me and scared the S out of me when full left rudder didn't stop the plane from going right! Off and into the grass I went. So for a short term fix I added a longer screw and washers to the rudder stop scre...

Re: R/H Elevator for a 1951 A model

That email for Robert Brown did work - I did not get a phone number for him. Wow he sent me a photo album... he has a TON of parts for C170s He did have a R/H elevator but had issues - corrosion being the main concern. Did also have a L/H elevator NOS in a crate. B model elevators etc... I ended up ...

Re: R/H Elevator for a 1951 A model

I am looking at one off of a 1948 170A - my understanding is that the original 170s are the same as the A model. Is this true?
Has some hail damage and probably needs a trim tab but it may be the ticket - seems not many out there.

Thanks

R/H Elevator for a 1951 A model

Hi Everyone
I am new here but am looking for a R/H Elevator for a 1951 C170A. I have contacted a few salvage places so far with no luck.

Hopeful someone on here may have one or know where to point me.

Thanks!
