Great trip KDIJ to KHLN
Had a really good trip into Helena this weekend. I’m a low hour guy that doesn’t frequent towered airports often. This was my third trip into Helena however. These tower guys are nothing short of remarkable to me. Courteous, helpful and patient. Winds were gusting to 20 and they asked me if I’d like...

CS Prop info
I’m looking for information for a CS prop for a 170A with the Lycoming O-360. I’m sure this has been beat to death, but I can’t find a thread on it. Any suggestions?

Re: Tire STC?
In addition to buying double puck brakes, (see F. Atlee Dodge's STC SA02231AK ), you'll want to upgrade to steel axles as well as NAS bolts and nuts to replace the weaker original AN hardware. You don't want to be this guy . See also SAFO10007 on this subject. Finally, Bruce added a 337 for 26"...

Re: Tire STC?
Wyoming1, I own a '50 170A with Goodyear 26" tires on it. So here is the Info you need. If you bought some used AlaskaBushwheel 26" tires, call them and give them the serial numbers off of your tires. They may sell you their STC. There are NO STC's for Goodyear 26" tires on our 170's...

Re: Future 170 Caretaker!
The eddy current inspection AD on that Hartzell prop hub is a real pain, especially if you don't have a shop nearby that can do it. Before I got rid of my Hartzell I was paying $300 every 100 hours for the inspection. Looks to me like the stall warn unit is below the pilot side yoke. Dave, what pro...

Tire STC?
I purchased a set of 26” tires from a friend that I would like to put on my 170A. Is an STC required? If so, where can I find this? I’ve done a search on here, but no joy.

Re: Basic empty weight
I have a second hand story of MT sending out the wrong prop to a customer that was installed, it 'worked', but could have been catastrophic. I won't repeat it since it isn't first hand, but all this does stick on ones mind.

Re: Basic empty weight
Mine on 8.50's is 1420. On 29's it's 1444. Lyc O-360 Avcon conversion, MT prop. 175 wings, sportsman cuff, AK bushwheels tailwheel. Def some pounds added on, I think the sportsman kit is 20# This is interesting to me. I have the same engine conversion (170A model), Hartzell prop, standard wings and...

Basic empty weight
Curious as to what your showing for a basic empty weight? And is that an actual certified weighed weight or calculated from factory?

Convention
Are conventions ever held in the western states? I'd be interested in attending, but distance is a 'thing' for me. Time mostly.
Thanks.
Thanks.
