Re: 170 (ragwing) seating limitation
Finally made it out to the airport over the weekend. Checked the placard and by golly it does say that! Like Bruce, I guess it never sank in before. That line starts out stating no acrobatics, so I guess I just skipped over the rest.

Re: Fuel management and fuel gauge
I would guess that this comes from the original 170 (ragwing). The flight manual states that takeoff with less than 1/4 fuel is not recommended. Due to the routing of the fuel line, a fuel pump is required. This was changed on the later A & B models. Perhaps it was possible to lose fuel flow if ...

Re: 170 (ragwing) seating limitation
Where did you find this tidbit? I have been flying my ragwing for 25 years, and have never run across this.

Re: Fuel flow
have to agree with Dan my 48 sn 18619-valve on firewall, has off-left-both-right, Normally fly on both and left GAUGE goes down faster than right , but since left holds 12.5 gal and right holds 25, seems that the flow from each would be about equal.

Re: Fuel pressure gauge.
The straight 170's have a fuel pump and pressure gauge do to the routing of the fuel lines.
I believe that it was thought that these were needed at high angles of attack to keep fuel flowing.
Later A & B models had the fuel lines routed differently and don't have the pump.

George,
Haven't found anything yet. If you have one available, it would be appreciated.

Door latch repair (Catch PN 0411552 Split topic)
The latch on my '48 is broken. Specifically, it is the "catch", figure 30-34, part # 0411552, 1948 Parts catalog pages 54-55, that I need to replace. Most of the old posts on this topic are several years old, and I was wondering if there is still a source for this part. It appears to be ma...

Re: '48 fuel pressure line
George, I have not done this myself. The A & P mechanic I work with tried reflaring the original line and still had a seep. When I mentioned double flaring, he stated that he did not have the tools to do that small a line and tried several other shops in the area, none of which do either. I am h...

Re: '48 fuel pressure line
Thanks for the responses.
I take it that copper tube with a single flare is acceptable for this application since the pressure is very low?

'48 fuel pressure line
The fuel pressure line to the pressure gauge , (I believe part # 0500106-25) that runs from the tee up to the fitting on the fire wall started leaking at the fitting by the fire wall. Tried reflaring ( single flare) but still had a seep. Figure the old line is getting hard and needs to be replaced. ...

Clevelands with wheelpants
I am going to replace the Goodyear brakes with Clevelands when the kit arrives and was wondering about the mounting bracket for the wheel pants, part #'s 0441143 dash 8 and dash 9. I am assuming that at the very least these will need to be modified to fit the different shape or the Cleveland caliper...
