Call Kenmore Air for the STC and tell them what you are looking for.

Re: Landing Light Switch

George, Can you place a note somewhere in this forum or on the TIC170 site that identifies this Coke Hersee a with as the one to use if folks need a new landing light switch. It should be part of the permanent tribal knowledge for when the old guys like us are dead and gone so the younger guys don’t...

Re: extended baggage?

170 TCDS A-799_Rev_55.pdf The TCDS A-799 for the Cessna 170A and all the other 170 models is available online from the FAA (if you can find it) or through The International Cessna 170 Association on the members only website. It’s got all the data you need other than your particular aircraft empty w...

Re: dying of thirst . dehydration

Years ago a brilliant internist and soaring pilot gave a lecture to glider pilots in the Reno area, which is hot and high desert country. The title of the lecture was something like “Why Do Smart Guys Do Stupid Things.” One of the top causes was dehydration. Glider pilots out west are particularly v...

Re: Changing Filter/ Screen without draining oil?

I am no expert but my guess is you are going to have a mess. Even if you drain enough oil into a clean bucket so that the level is below the level of the oil screen, there is going to be enough residual oil in the screen housing and line to make a mess if you aren’t very careful and maybe a bit even...

Re: Alternator STC

I have the Plane Power alternator and am pleased with the output and weight savings. I did leave the master on once when I had the generator and ran the battery down. However I was able to hand prop it and use the electrics and the radios on the way home. That stunt and the subsequent high initial c...

Re: EGT setup

My recommendation is that you don’t waste your money. I installed an nice EI single cylinder combination EGT/CHT probe and gauge a number of years ago thinking I would use it for lean of peak operation, engine diagnostics, etc. Because of the aforementioned sloppy mixture distribution system, it’s j...

Re: Cruise prop T/0 vs climb prop ?

George, I will be heading east from Eastern Oregon in Mid July so it will be hot and high density altitudes crossing the Rockies. I am concerned that I am going to have to fly fast to achieve the max rpm’s that will be available at those altitudes and temperature. The potential speed savings could r...

Cruise prop T/0 vs climb prop ?

Hi, I will be departing from Alaska to the east coast by way of eastern Oregon in late June and am nearly certain that I will be replacing my 80 42 climb prop for my cruise prop, a Cal Twist (McCauley DES 1C172 MDM7655) for the trip. I will have one pax and camping/survival gear and full fuel for mo...

Oshkosh Blood Chit

Years ago, I saw a guy at Oshkosh who had a contemporary blood chit with an American flag sewn on his jacket which went something like the following: I am an American airman. I mean no harm to your citizens. My plane has been disabled. Please shelter me from the FAA and provide me with 80/87 so I ca...

Re: weight and balance app

Here is my W&B. You will have to modify it for your particular model and aircraft. 1) The weight limits for normal and utility operations, as well as the limits for CG and the moments of seat, baggage , and fuel come from the FAA’s TCDS. 2) The empty weight was prepared and equipment list for my...
