The guys from Bayport on Long Island went last year and are (were) planning to go this year but the weather looks grim Friday and not much better the next two days. They loved it last year.

Just to close out the thread, got the new spring installed today. Not too bad. My A&P buddy did the work. As he put it, it was a lot easier than getting that #$&@% back seat in.

Broken rudder return spring
I had a suspicion this was a problem when I disconnected my tail wheel and saw the rudder pedals were not even and the rudder was slightly off to one side. I needed to hold a touch of right rudder in cruise. I’m not sure it hasn’t been that way since I’ve owned it. Now it’s IMG_8613.jpeg annual time...

I’m hearing from my IA there is a new AD now calling for a different gasket again. I think it’s 2023 1704 but I can’t find anything yet. He tells me he’s getting it electronically but doesn’t have the complete info yet

This is similar with what happens in C2 and C3 corvettes when the trailing arms need rebuilding. Because a car does many more revolutions of the wheel than our planes, this action actually generates bubbles in the brake fluid. The owner suspects his brakes need bleeding and does so. Here’s my 1952 panel. Serial number in my signature. First registered 6/10/1952. Trim color is red. It was born blue. The plastic panel behind the engine controls was blue, but was changed to gray when the trim was changed to red. The airplane is polished.

Sometimes if you email the picture to yourself the email system will reduce the size sufficiently. This works for me. I send the picture to myself via AOL and then store the result. Then use that result to post on forums. I do everything on iPhone and iPad so this is the easiest way for me.

Never said the engine was overhauled. Last overhaul was late 90’s. At that time valve springs were new, so I guess valve springs go on the list of calendar time limits just like hoses and gaskets. Two separate thoughts: 1. Replacing gaskets and seals (if needed!) doesn’t require a major overhaul. Rod bearings don’t age by sitting. Connecting rods don’t age by sitting. You get the picture.
