Re: Time to give up on LightSpeed

You would never see a high wing pilot dressed like that!

Re: Aircraft that pitch down with flap extension

The 170 will pitch down with full flaps in a sideslip...
I remember the 172 would as well.

Re: Pilot wanted...

I love the part about "getting girls," "money and bling-bling"!

Brings another saying to mind

Airline pilot - High Fast and lots of Cash
Cessna pilot - Low Slow and no Dough

Re: Second Skycatcher crash

http://www.whycirrus.com/safety/2008-ga-safety-record.aspx This link to Cirrus "safety " record clearly shows the 172 approximately 3 times safer than the SR 22 (regarding fatalities)! Strange that Cirrus would post it. I'm sure there are specific instances where a parachute would help (ie...

September 24, 2008 SkyCatcher Crash Update By Mary Grady, Contributing Editor The test pilot for the Cessna 162 SkyCatcher LSA prototype that crashed last week was spin-testing the airplane and put it into a cross-controlled, power-on stall, Cessna spokesman Doug Oliver told AVweb this week. "H...

Gahorn,
there were similar pilots "way back when" as well. The only difference is that today they will live to fly another day!

Re: Second Skycatcher crash

It seems pointless to re-invent the wheel.
Perhaps Cessna is out of touch (now that they are selling multi-million dollar corporate jets).
I'll stick to my tried and true retro-bird.

Who sells them, and how much do they cost? Any idea how many hours labour to install?
Thanks Eric

cleveland brakes 170B

My left brake has been leaking fluid giving a spongy pedal. Some drops noted on hangar floor but not enough to cause me concern. After topping up the brake fluid the pedal was spongy after only a few flights. My maintenance shop took the caliper off and found numerous pits on the cylindrical surface...

Re: Insulation

I took all my insulation out as it was a mess after 50+ years. It is great for hiding stuff like mouse droppings and it does hold moisture in difficult to repair areas!
A good intercom/headset setup is better than any insulation money can buy.

Re: AUTOPILOT

My son began being the A/P at age 5. Now at 11 he can do the complete flight from start to shut down! You have to keep them challenged or the Gameboy (ninteno DS in our case) does come out.

Re: AUTOPILOT

If you need a wing leveler, why not just bring a friend? It's a lot more fun on those long cross country's! I've introduced a friend to flying and he later got his license and bought a beautiful 1953 170.

Re: SPEAKING OF DORKS, I THINK I'M ONE

Apparently the ailerons can be rigged reversed as well. My first 'chief pilot' crashed in a c185 test flight. He survived to pass on the advice to check proper control direction doing flight control checks!
