Re: Loss of control w/electronic attitude indicators

Most interesting to me are the following statements from the Transportation Safety Board investigation report: "The investigation attempted to determine more precisely the source of the initial fault. However, no supplemental information about the instrument, possible reasons it would require r...

Re: Yoke and Yoke Shaft Refinishing

After discussion with Brian and George, I decided to re-do our yokes, which were chipped. While in Annual I removed both yokes and shafts at the universal joint (not easy to reach the right one!) and had a local shop powder coat them and ordered the vinyl lettering decals from stickylife.com (I thou...

Re: Insight on panel

George,

How difficult is it to remove the yokes with the shafts? Would love to refinish yokes while it is in annual, but I am not an A & P.

Thanks,

Bob

Re: Basic empty weight

I had my '54 170B with stock C-145 engine and no major modifications weighed a few years ago:

BEW: 1330 pounds
CG: 39.70"

This was within 14 pounds and 1" of the calculated BEW and CG, based on the original Licensed Empty Weight.

Re: Cowl plugs

I got mine from Bruce's Custom Covers for a 1954 170B. Their website https://aircraftcovers.com/170 shows plugs for B Model (4 or 5 plugs) and/or carb inlet.

They may do custom as well for the A Model.

Re: A new 170B owner!

Welcome also!

We have our 1954 170B at MMK and our son is about to take his CFI check ride in it. The runway is fully repaired and in great condition.

Enjoy the new aircraft!

Re: 1954 Interior trim paint

Our '54 (yes it is actually a 1954) is also the Trooper Tan interior paint. Does the number below the paint mean anything (E23-9691)? Or only to Cessna at the time? I notice the colors described as "Polar Blue" and "Westport Red" in the brochure, but "Deep Blue" and &qu...

Re: Wheel Fairing Trim

So I did receive a response from Hardison Metal Shaping referenced by Gary above, very beautiful polished wheel pants $8460 for the set. Certification and installation not included.

Hard to justify but sure look nice!

For the few interested in this topic I actually reached out to Hardison but no reply.

Textron provided the following quote on 2 sets of wheel fairing trim:

Re: Wheel Fairing Trim

Ryan,

Thanks for that info. If you end up with leftover trim from your old ones let me know...

Gary,

Thanks for all the details and that website...maybe he can make a whole set of "Cessna 180" wheel pants.
