Re: Brake Pipe Close to Failure

George

As you can imagine the elevator cable had a very close physical and visual inspection, and did not have any damage. Fortunately the aluminium pipe is much softer than the cable / swaged fitting that was making contact.

Brake Pipe Close to Failure

During this years annual I spent a lot of time running wires under the floor, and whilst laying underneath looking up at the cables I noticed a shinny mark on the RH brake pipe where it crosses the fuselage. I exercised all the controls and found that the elevator cable moved through an upward arc a...

Re: Installing Bendix SC Magnetos

I have heard from the magneto shop and they advise attaching the shield to one of the four cover screws.

Re: Installing Bendix SC Magnetos

Thanks Gary, The Short cover magneto is the one where the capacitor is built into the cover, and the P-lead connects onto its threaded stud. I am looking at where the outer shielding connects? My existing capacitor is fitted onto the firewall and the shielding attaches to the capacitor fixing screw....

Installing Bendix SC Magnetos

I have had to replace my Bendix long cover mags with short cover exchange units. I have read that this has the P-lead capacitor built in and a ring connector attaches the inner P-lead to this. The firewall mounted capacitor needs to be removed. Does anyone know where to attach the P- lead shield at ...

Re: New products for windscreens

Thanks for posting, I have been looking for a good windscreen product. Meguiars has a good reputation here in the UK. I would not have thought of using it to clean off bugs. I use a ceramic coating on the airframe and was going to try this one next as it is easier to apply.

Re: How To Fix Corrosion on Landing Gear?

I used a good two part auto primer with a roller, followed by a light rub down. You could use a white epoxy primer from Aircraft Spruce, either spray or roller. Followed by top coats of your choice. I wanted to try this simple method and found that it worked very well. It is ideal when you don't wan...

Re: How To Fix Corrosion on Landing Gear?

Reece You can follow the SID sheets above, particularly page 3. Remove the paint around the corrosion and follow the instructions. If the corrosion is within limits feather the paint around the area gradually using finer wet and dry to around 400 grit. Then I would feather out any damaged paint area...

Re: Best Glide

Can I suggest that you check your ASI against a GPS, two direction runs and average the GPS result at different speeds.
Just had my ASI overhauled as it was getting sticky.

Re: uAvionix AV-30-C

I too have been following the TailbeaconX and am waiting to install. This combination is really cutting edge IMHO.
My IA suggested keeping the original AI and fitting the AV-30C in the top centre of the panel.

Gareth

There are spacer bushings in the clevis assemblies that the AN3 bolts pass through. I lubricated them as I assembled.

Re: Flap assisted take off

Hi Joe

Thank you for the reply, pretty much what I am doing. I seem to float a bit and think that the ASI was slightly under reading. It is on its way back from overhaul so am keen to try again in the Spring.

Re: Flap assisted take off

Joe Thank you for going into detail about how you operate at your strip. The focus on obstacle clearance is very relevant to me as my strip is 1120ft with 40ft trees at one end and similar trees 200ft from the other end and 250ft amsl. I am used to my strip but am fairly new to the 170B with its 180...
