Re: Looking for a spinner
I suppose I could just start coughing intensely if someone were to approach and ask about it.

Re: Looking for a spinner
A follow-up to my own question - can you run without the spinner and backplate? I'm not smart enough to know how to read the TCDS to figure this out.

Looking for a spinner
Folks,
I'm looking for any leads on a spinner for a O300A 170B. The 8 bolt, bullet looking one.
Wag Aero makes them (I-949-000), but are backordered 6 weeks.
Thanks,
Eric

Re: Annual in Southern New England
It might be a little far, but maybe John Tremper at Andover/12N? He handles a few 170's based at the field. He might be full up. It's a 1-man show.

I would also be very interested. I contacted the STC group as well to add my name and support for a core group to get the STC in process.

Re: What did you buy for your 170 today?
I went for a broader overhaul of the panel. Dual G5's and a 650, along with intercom, audio panel and the transponder. Nulites on the round gauges. It's tough to get lost with all the magenta lines and trend vectors.

CHT Ring sensor
All, What am I supposed to do with the CHT ring sensor when I clean/rotate/gap the spark plugs. Do you replace it or try to anneal that thing while on the little wire? I'm (obviously) not an A&P, and my daughter and I have been doing this stuff in the grass at our tie down. Anything exotic will ...

Re: Tailwheel CFI Listing
All, NYC area based CFI/CFII. Available weekends. I own a 170B based in 12N, and can fly out to regional locations if needed. Tailwheel experience is all 170 time with a little Citabria. Just being honest - I'd be guessing if you have something else. Instruction in owner plane only at this time. Ini...

Re: Door latch repair
For the folks who have removed the latch mechanism, is anyone riveting the two external ones back in place, or just using screws?
Probably screws to make the repair easier when it breaks next time?

Re: Interesting tach mode of failure
I'm guessing the 14 days through Aircraft Spruce is a standard time. I ordered through them, and the invoice even quoted that lead time. It was only after I got to 14 days and called that they told me about the extended time. No big deal - I should have just called to verify when ordering. Anyway. N...

Interesting tach mode of failure
All, Any seen this before: tach is bouncing high rpm, much like the indication of a cable problem. Tach needle then drops to zero. Tach still counts hours. Mitchell is quoting 1 month + for getting out a marked tach. Really tempting to just put a blank/unmarked tach in there. There are only so many ...
