Re: Exhaust smells

Thank you Mr. George,
I have never had an original in my hand, do you know how thick the material should be?

Re: Exhaust smells

Does anyone know if the gear leg seal P/N 0611064 for an L-19 Bird Dog can be used to replace P/N 0511125 gear leg seal for our 170's?

Used Propeller Value

Hello all,
I have a used 1A170DM7653 with ~200 hours since overhaul. The overhaul entries are all in the engine log. I am having a hard time placing a value on it. Does anyone have a resource to value used propellers? Thanks!

Re: Flap Pawl spring

No. With out the spring the flap will not retract to neutral while not in flight. . The spring alone can not hold the flap when a gust from the back hits it. The paw is suppose to hold the flap locked in but on even the best examples it can not overcome a good tail wind. Yes, I have experienced a t...

Re: Flap Pawl spring

They are small springs that are attached to the linkage against the fuselage. Only found on the earlier models with hinged flaps.

Re: Flap Pawl spring

Thanks Bruce,
Does that make the purpose of the pawl to more for backup if a flap retract spring breaks? I had envisioned the pawl and spring combo to be for keeping the flaps from "flapping" with a tailwind. I learned something today!

Re: Stewart Warner Heater

I have a poor picture of the aux heater in my '51 170A. I will have to send it to Bruce though, as I am not sharp enough to get the file size correct.

Re: Scott 3200 "Grease retainer spacers"

Got it all squared away. One half appears to have been machined and repair sleeve driven in to accommodate the seal installation. The other half is just worn out so that it will no longer hold a seal. Looks like two replacement wheel halves are in my future. :( Thank you Mr. Horn for all of your hel...

Re: Scott 3200 "Grease retainer spacers"

Mr. Horn, The parts are all there, my confusion is due to the following: Item #3 (PN 1862) on one wheel half, is seated flush with the snout of the hub. On that one, item #2 (PN 1863) fits inside item #3, and seems to tightly seat. However, on the other wheel half, the ID of item #3 is smaller, so m...

Scott 3200 "Grease retainer spacers"

Hey all, I suffered my first flat tailwheel tire the other day. Upon removal, disassembly, and cleaning, I noticed that the retainer spacers in each wheel half are oriented differently. This made me question which one is installed correctly. One is driven flush with the hub, the other is driven in a...

Re: Fuel Selector Valve 1950 170A

Thanks guys,
I haven't made it home yet to investigate further, but it sure could be the quick drain on the gascolator. That would be much more convenient. Thank you for the replies.
