Changing Tires
Greetings fellow flyers, After two great years of flying, it's time to change some tires. My tailwheel tread is almost gone and the mains are not too far behind. What is the best way to jack the plane for a tire change? Do you have any recommended attachments for the main gear or the tailwheel spring?

Control locks (yet again)
Just want to throw out a big thank you to the forum and your clever rudder gust lock design input. My plane is tied down at an airport in the DC area, and we saw sustained winds over 30kts and gusts just shy of 50kt for almost 24 hours last week. About a month back I built and installed a slightly m...

Re: KX-125 Avionics Repair Shop
Well... bit of good news - the unit is good to go. Bench testing reveals it's within spec. Time to start looking at connectors and cables...

KX-125 Avionics Repair Shop
Can anyone recommend a good repair shop for the KX-125? My local shop on the eastern shore of Maryland no longer works on it.
If anyone wants to sell me their old KX-125... that would do the trick too!

Upholstered Panel behind the cargo compartment
When changing the batteries in my ELT, I discovered an upholstered panel on the backside of the cargo area. It isn't the access panel to the tail section, rather it's a panel that was attached above the access panel (at head level for backseat passengers) in the tail section. Does anyone know what t...

Interior Light Question
Went for my first night flight in my 170A last night, and now I have a question about the instrument panel lighting. On my panel, I have the piano key for instrument lights, which runs through a dimmer rheostat on the panel. Both of these work just fine - but only the oil temp, oil pressure, ammeter...

Re: Changing Magneto Drop During Run-ups
Sorry for the delay - I appreciate all the inputs. I did find that a combination of aggressive leaning and carb heat on the ground has yielded consistently more acceptable run-ups. Some days are still picture perfect and others a little more rough... but all are much better than before. Going to see...

Re: Changing Magneto Drop During Run-ups
I've been told the C-145 is susceptible to carb ice on the ground during long taxi's. Thanks for the input - something to think about...

Re: Changing Magneto Drop During Run-ups
Yeah - the grounds are good, I check them before shutdown every few flights... the drop might not be much more than 25, but it's definitely a lot less than the 150 I get every few flights :D You're right though, when it's smooth, it's smooooth. Plugs are a cheap inspection... I think that'll be my f...

Changing Magneto Drop During Run-ups
Hi Everyone! I'm a new 170 owner (or should I say a new owner of a classic 170?) and would appreciate some help figuring out my C-145 during the run-up. I realize this might be picky for a 66 year old airplane... but about every second or third time I go to fly both mags drop almost 150 RPM during t...
