Re: Door Seal

The best door seal / weatherstrip I've found to replace the original is: Brown Aircraft T-9088 . (Some mfr's call it "Piper" door seal, but don't let that fool you. It's what Cessna used.) My 140 still has the original door seal retainer and I don't think this shape will work with it. The...

Re:

1. The 120/140 manual lists a "right" leg for later serials, but no Left? It's there. Better late then never :) The left side spring is listed up higher in the figure 26 parts list, last item 26-14 for the later serial numbers. 0441149, the -1 is the right side. Took me a couple minutes o...

Top two on the list. Trying to figure out which to court first. The 195 will fit in the hangar with the 140 better. 1. Cessna 195 2. Stearman Near the top of my bucket list is getting type rated in the DC3. Love that airplane. Though, I have yet to meet an airplane I didn't like. AC-130 for prairie ...

George, wouldn't the 337 (Major Alteration) be the basis for approval? CAR3 provides criteria for the design. This "basis" stuff is confusing as all get out.

you mean those two holes outside the 'normal' bolt hole circle? I've been told they were for packing lead wool to balance the prop.

Great Planes makes the "Real Flight" simulator which comes with a flight control box which connects to your computer by USB cable. I just started flying a .61 ARF (almost ready to fly) model XT-40, close to 5' wingspan, low wing tail dragger. One of the guys out at the airport has been fly...

Stainless steels can exhibit magnetism from next to none, to strong depending on the alloy, how it's been formed, and/or heat treated. 300 series CRES that's been cold worked can be weakly magnetic. 400 series CRES can be strongly magnetic. 400 series can also rust. CRES actually forms a surface fil...

If I thought my IA wasn't paying close attention to the entire airplane during an annual, including all the vacuum system hoses and everything else he sees under/behind the panel, I'd be shopping for a new IA. If he saw or ran into something that was outside his experience I know he'd recommend a vi...

Re: Cessna Service bulletins,

J On the other hand a court of law in a civil suit can determine that a mechanic is liable for having not complied with a SB even if it is not Mandatory According to the FAA. I'd have thought the owner is responsible for complying with an SB, or not. Even though a mechanic may perform the activity,...

I've been taught service bulletins are not mandatory for us GA guys. If you're a 135 operation it's another story and you'd have to comply with the manufacturers service bulletins.
