Re: Carpet or Vinyl for a floor covering

It worth noting that the carpet is better then half the weight of the vinyl, 4.5 lbs as opposed to close to 10 lbs for the vinyl and its the "little" savings that add up to something much bigger in time.

Re: Bartone Exhaust

To be clear the Bartone pipes are cool and offer the advantages previously identified. However after some due diligence from an earlier consider of their use offer no significant engine performance increase or proposed to offer what a Powerflow or Vetterman can do. Unfortunately neither of these two...

Re: Seat replacements for my rear bench in a C170-B?

How would the seat belt work in the case of sitting in the "middle" of the bench. The obvious advantage of a single seat is weight and space for "long loads" like say skis.

Re: Approved AOA's for a 54 C170

I'd keep an eye on this product, it's currently experimental but soon to be certified. It offers a very nostalgic look, built in AOA indicator along with the other "mundane" guidance we need from time to time !!!

Re: Belly pod

I stand by my original thought, the empty weight only will negate any benefit on a 170 and as pointed out above only increase the possibility of an overweight issue. A quick look around the various supplier indicates empty pod weights upwards of 50-70 lbs depending on methods and material used in it...

Re: Belly pod

Just do the research, the pod alone is in the 50 lbs range empty and that comes straight off your max allowable weight for every flight not just when its in use. The options I went with might have added 10-15 lbs to the air-frame, I can check the weight report if you'd like some better numbers for y...
