Re: Single place rear seat in 170B
I put a single airframe innovation seat in several years ago. Works well as I rarely have need for more than three seats. I put it on left side so there is lots of room to load from right door. Highly recommend. And probably lost 25 lbs.

My 52 170b has black crap in tailcone also. Does not appear professionally done. My mech figures for sound deadening also.

Re: Skis on a Cessna 170
I have skis on my 170b . Hydraulic a2500a . With 180 hp and constant speed prop they are a lot of fun. A buddy had them o n his 170 with 145hp and he felt two on board was all it was safe for.

Re: Interior Refresh
I put aircraft door seals in a few months ago. It replaced the combination of house door seals. Is now quieter and no draft. The wipe of silicone keeps them supple. Several hours with solvent , spray nine and wire brush plus removing some original rivets gave me a great glue base.

170 B crash report
The Canadian transportation people just released the report on the 170 fatal accident of an American aircraft. There were other issues but wrong flap use was one cause of loss of control . Go to COPA website for more info.

Re: Main Gear Axle Attachment Bolts
If you are going to use hyd wheel skis you need another axle inward. Then you need extra long bolts through both axle attach points. Might be cheaper to put ski axles on now with long bolts and be ready for skis. I think a set of 8 bolts/nuts for ski axles cost me over $800.00 a few years a go. They...

Re: Carpet or Vinyl for a floor covering
Archerw I just know it as coin dot. I am sure any floor covering place could get it. Like I said can be had with flame proof certification. I ordered a piece about 3 feet by eight. Then did the floor all in one. Different colors available I think. Looks like barrymass' . I also covered the tunnel wi...

Re: Rear seat attach
I have the same trouble occasionaly . I just put the difficult bolt in first and then the others fit. I know mine was stretched between the front and back holes till I bent the back arm in a bit.

Re: Carpet or Vinyl for a floor covering
I put coin dot in mine. Made it 2 or 3 inches wider all round to go up sides. This collects dirt so it doesn't end up in belly. Probably in the 10 lb range. It is certified flame resistant.

Re: rear seatbelt install
Hilltop and 258 That is exactly how my belts ended up installed. The seat is almost exactly as far forward as the original. I know it looks different but the tape measure does not lie.
